What needs to happen for a miracle at the Zou?

Obviously the defense is going to have to play outstanding for us to have any chance by forcing at least two turnovers, but the coaching staff is the biggest thing that needs to improve this week. The clock management was horrendous against Vandy at the end of the first half. The play calling was horrendous because when it was abundantly clear the corners were jumping the slant and comeback routes we continued to throw them. Continually running zone read is worthless, run some play action and roll the pocket to the opposite side of the zone read. We need to OPEN UP THE frickING PLAYBOOK show something the Bama defense hasn't seen on film. Finally when it's obvious the line can't block the defenders (usually only four) why hasn't the coaching staff adjusted by leaving the running back or tight end (not getting any production from the position anyway) next to Berkstresser for extra help in pass protection. Also we are going to have to get some help from Bama by maybe having an off game or overlooking us

You know I love you guys, but short of the entire Bama team getting E. coli, you don't have much of a chance. Just hope to keep the score close.

Anything can happen, but we're going to lose badly unless Peyton Manning is our QB Saturday.

A lot of things:
1) Everyone has to play to their potential
2) Playcalling has to give the players a chance to execute. Reduce risks of negative plays. They kill every drive
3) Have Bama overlook MU
4) Of course have a big@@# dose of luck on our side.
5) Special teams have to be perfect.
6) can't have more than maybe 1 or 2 three-and-outs from the offense vs Bama. No way to recover if that happens. Even with 1 or 2 three-and-outs they would have to occur somewhere on the field that the punt team could still pin Bama deep. Going 3-and-out deep in our own territory will almost imediately be the end of the game.
It wouldn't be the biggest upset in college football history (unless the line moves a LOT more).

It would be a pretty damn big upset. I don't get why the line is only at 21.5

I'm not even sure I can stomach to watch the game. I'm sure I will because I always do, but I hate the thought of being embarrassed anymore than we have been.

I agree, Reedus. I have tickets for the game but I'm considering the option of just hanging out at Flat Branch and entering a state of blissful inebriation. Hopefully, the place will not be overrun by Gumps because that would be unbearable.

I'm sorry, and this won't be to popular a comment in here with all the QB discussions we've had but what we should do has come and gone. What should have happened weeks ago was setting Franklin to heal and playing Berk or Mauk. Thats what should have happened. I'm guessing if that took place, Franklin would be near 100% and ready to be the old Franklin we all want back.
But the QB position is only part of it. The O-line being what it is, I don't know if a healthy Franklin could do ua much good against Bama. It certainly would have helped.
But for whatever reason, Pinkel decided to try to muddle through the season with a hurt QB.
We don't realisticaly have a snowballs chance in hell....thats just the truth.

Yep. I'm guessing there was a bit of panic on the part of the coaches when they realized this wasn't a "down" year in the east. The coaches believe that JF gives them their best shot at winning, so he was rushed back with a patchwork OL. No protection, and the fear of re-injury messed with JF's head. Yost's playcalling only amplified the problem.
So here we sit today with the prospect of facing the #1 team in the nation, at home, on national TV, with a crappy o-line and a QB with limited experience.
If playing an injured JF was the coaching staffs way of trying to save the season, it failed. The season is pretty much a washout and now they have to play CB in a game that will probably destroy whatever confidence he has.
