We're gonna be fine killz. Are we still a potential final 4 contender...maybe not. But I will say as a whole there don't seem to be as many ELITE teams this season. kU is down, Kentucky doesn't look as good, and don't give me this garbage that Michigan is good.
EDIT: The only team that really looks truly elite right now is Duke. Holy crap they looked good the other night. Also UNC is down

Ok, I'm gonna beat a dead horse here. There is not one person that post here that thought Yost was a good coordinator going into the season, right? I mean we all made jokes about his play calling, we knew what was going to happen, and we were all 100% correct. Every. Game. Sucked.
Now, why in the frick can't GP see this? Is he dick riding him because he got DGB? Maybe, but honestly, that's a shame because Yost doesn't really know how to use him. Why didn't we run more? Was it Yost or Pinkel that was stubborn? Why are stuck listening to excuses like "it's what we do".
frick, I'm just grumped out about everything right now. Jesus, 8 wins were staring us in the face and we ended up with 5. The play calling was horseshite, the QB'ing was horseshite, yet, I'm a shitty fan because I expected more. Blame injuries, blame whatever you want, but the fact of the matter is Gary Pinkel did not have this team ready to succeed in the SEC. He acted like it was the pansy arse Big 12. He even said as much during the meetings over the summer.
Why anyone would want this guy back is beyond me. He's gonna spend the offseason sucking you all off and make you believe he gives a shite, when in all honesty he only cares that we go to a bowl. Hell, he was tied with OU, at halftime, in what was basically our only Final Four ever, and he was content with just getting there when we scored 3 points the rest of the game and lost.
Just fricking nevermind. Being a Mizzou fan blows. And HermannMIZ wonders why I have USC stuff. frick me in the arse.

I hate to sound like this...but I'm seriously thinking about finding another team to like.
Perhaps I'll show full blown support for my backup favorite basketball team, the Missouri State Bears.
We perform well every now and then, we've been to a Sweet 16 (1999 against Duke), and we're in a fun conference (Missouri Valley) that is both tough and scandal free.

I'm with ya. I went there, and my HS basketball coaches son plays there. I always root for the Bears.

Well, all the bad news at once then. It's apparently come full circle. The Dixon accuser from 2010 was DWash's gf/friends with benefits, the girl he was with before she fell asleep and he went to assault her roommate. Ugh. This was pieced together from the police reports, and seems to be the truth.
Now, hopefully the worst is behind us. Killz, we need ya, dude. This too shall pass, and hope must spring eternal.

Me too, SoCal. I always root for The Bears during basketball season. The Missouri Valley is a very underrated conference. Many sports analysts believe it should be considered a major basketball conference instead of a mid-major...but they ultimately never get the love.
No scandals. Fundamental and hard played basketball.
Maybe Missouri State can eventually become the Duke of midwest teams...if anyone is getting my drift.

Pretty much. The Dixon accuser testified in the DW trial, and said that she herself had a friends with benefits relationship with DW. No wonder she didn't want to press charges - she'd have been drug through the mud.
And DW didn't actually "rape" the roommate, he assaulted her - fingers only from what I recall, and rubbing himself against her face.

I'm sort of desensitized to this sort of thing happening with our basketball program, unfortunately. I've always heard what a creep Dixon was from friends who have met him, I guess they weren't lying.

The question in the OP was about being "bummed." Dixon being gone shouldn't bum anyone out. Everyone should be happy that dooshbag is gone. I don't care if he didn't actually rape anyone. He is responsible for who he sleeps with and the fallout from it. He could have avoided the situation.

My brain is fried, from trying to interpolate the day to day revelation of facts, rumors, supposition and public reaction to the trials and tribulations of Mizzou athletics.
From a purely sport competitive perspective, I surmise that Mizzou football program faces the greatest challenge. Pinkel will get a chance to bolster his legacy. But I think he has a shorter leash than he realizes. I want to believe he is prepared to face the challenge, but that remains to be seen.
The basketball program has taken a hit that goes beyond ability to perform. It will be a distraction for awhile, but the scandal is not program related, and the shelf life of the news will soon be replaced with another story. If the Miami thing gets resolved without Haith being trashed, the BB program should still be top 4 or better in SEC.
The Penn State scandal will cause some folks to look for comparison to the Dixon story. I don't think there is any parity, but I am sure some will be excavating.
I'm bummed about both FB and Dixon, but for entirely different reasons. I want to see Mizzou earn national respect in something beyond the Journalism School. But what ever unfolds in the future, I'm Black and Gold for the duration.

Lets face it, I've been "bummed" the majority of my Missouri fandom. Generally, I choose to only look on the bright side of things, but the last month or so has me feeling like shite.
Really, the only thing that keeps me going is knowing that the rest of you sad sacks of Mizzou fandom are feeling the same way I do.
