Meh. Moe is a douchebag. If he were honest, he'd even tell you as much.
My guess is he's basing his comments on shite said on message boards, Twitter and shite like that. The people posting on such forums are such a minority of any fanbase and EVERY fanbase has self loathing fans that post. Even Bama.
Also, someone earlier said that everyone is upset because what he said is true. What he said is not true nor is it false. It's a freaking opinion and he's entitled to his. As is everyone else who has the opposite opinion.
Personal opinion. Missouri does have some self loathing fans. Does it have more than most fanbases? Personally don't think so but to each their own. I saw a whole bunch of people, sitting in the rain, watching a Mizzou team play a low level Troy team. That's pretty solid in my opinion. I'd also say that for a program that was flat out horrendous for decades, mediocre for the last two decades with glimpses of greatness occasionally, the fan support is pretty solid too.
I suppose depending on one's perspective, saying losing to Wyoming is piss poor can be self loathing or it can simply be one being realistic about it. I choose the latter because here I am, through all the losses to teams like Wyoming, Middle Tennessee State, Bowling Green, Troy and do I dare say kU, still watching, still posting and still yelling out M I Z.
For that reason...my own opinion is...Moe can go eat a dick.

its 2019, opinion's are facts now lol.
Here's my final opinion on mizzou athletics.
Mizzou fans can be lazy and full of excuses at times. And the AD could do a much better job. Both are too blame.

8 years in the SEC and they still don't have a clue on how to market the two biggest money making sports in the country.
This is largely true.
I won't claim to know what the answer is, but I expected a much bigger presence / push to try to attract former Rams season ticket holders and it was largely fumbled away. And the timing was perfect with two SEC East titles.
Losing Franklin and stumbling out of the gate in 2012 didn't help, but it's amazing how quick the high of joining the SEC evaporated. And even now non-thrill of SEC basketball pales in comparison to the old Big 8 / XXI days.
All that said, the it was a great move and to me Mizzou still feels like they're -this close- to breaking through in both football and basketball. Both coaches are above average with the opportunity to be great given time.
Not sure how to prop up attendance. I would assume try to get the locals to support basketball and KC and StL to more fully support football.
