I also don’t know that there are any developmental bigs out there right now. Those types usually are signed in the early signing period. Mizzou also already has 1 of those in Smith.

I know CM has to make sure that he gets a couple of point guards and one being a grad transfer, but I have this feeling that Ramey isn't a Mizzou automatic. I hope that I'm wrong. Maybe CM isn't sure about the grad transfer guard and is out their offering everybody and their mamas that can help keep this team afloat next year.

No one really thinks Ramey to Mizzou is automatic. He’s obviously the priority target, but you can also see Mizzou lining up other options by looking at grad transfers and regular transfers like Mark and Dru Smith.

Both could potentially be the PG of the future for Mizzou after sitting out next season.

Jontay has all the skills to play in the NBA, but is just not ready. Where he is projected he will be picked by a good team and sit the bench for a couple years and probably be traded.

If he waits a year or plays overseas for a year it will improve his game and his draft stock.

Everything I’ve read thinks he will go anywhere from 32 to 36.

Much later than we originally thought. Now that his dads plans on staying on at Mizzou it looks like Jontay is staying for another year.

This is the right time to let "Bluegrassboy" back in. He could tell us what's what. After all, he "Knows the game"...and with experience coaching 5th grade girls basketball, we're missing out on valuable insight.

That 5th grade girls comment was gold. I always thought he was a Kentucky alter for some reason

It’s easy to make a case for Jontay to stay another year, or to go now.
I think he goes now and will get a 3 year contract worth over $2 million.

Or he could wait a year and get 3 or 4 times that next year.

This is a classic case of instant gratification vs long range planning.

He won’t get 3 or 4 times by waiting a year.

Here’s a follow up to the Athletic article I linked in the recruiting thread.

To make more money by staying Jontay would have to go in the 10-15 range in the 2019 draft. Unless he becomes a great athlete in that year I doubt he moves up that much.

I disagree. He becomes stronger inside and continues to improve his jump shot he's easily a top 10 pick. How many 6'11" guys are knocking down 3's and then can post you up?

I don’t think he has the athleticism to be a top 10 pick. If Jontay comes back I see a Caleb Swanigan type of sophomore season, and maybe Jontay improves from 30-35 to 20-25 range in 2019 draft.

The word on MPJ is that he's killing it at the camp and he has his explosion back and that the Bulls are praying that he falls to them. They say that he has been one of the top 2 players in camp, because he's 100% healthy now.

Just read a story about him. said after the FSU loss he was ready to announce that he was coming back for his Sophomore season but dad intervened. Damnit!

Dad told him don't make a quick decision, because of emotions and just give it a minute to think about it. Mike was probably pissed at the way he played when he came back and wanted to prove to Mizzou fans, coaches, teammates and himself that he was a better player when healthy.

If he cuts his body fat in half and plays a year in college he’s easily a top 15 pick. 14 percent for a d1 basketball player that likes to live life out on the perimeter is...a lot
