And he'll kill it at Memphis and Campbell will be lucky to get us bowl eligible.

After two years Campbell will be working his way to the hotseat and Odom will be in line for a better job than Mizzou and we'll never get a chance at him. He'll go to a blue blood, win a couple titles and we'll be on our 3rd/4th coach by then.

Lol...just wait and see.

Grinch & Campbell both have roots at Mount Union on the D3 level.

Like this.

I'm calling it now. Kul is DC at LSU next year. They need to return to being dominant up front, and the new coach can't afford to screw around. He will have to win right away.

Doubt LSU takes another guy as DC that has never been a coordinator before. Didn't work out that well for them this year.

Welp. This apparently has legs. From Mubobby on TB...

From a few people I have spoken with recently they believe he is going to be the guy. A lot of the high dollar boosters have gotten together to oppose the hire. They don't want him. If a higher profile coach than Campbell isn't available then they want Odom. Might be able to apply enough pressure to stop it, but from what I've heard about Rhoades I kind of doubt it. I'll say this. He damn well better be right because this hire would make just about no one happy.

I'll never understand why AD's overthink this stuff. In college sports your star is your coach! Spend the extra money for a big named coach and you will be relevant and pull big crowds. Go average or cheap and 90% of the time your team will be average or uninspiring. Take the GP hire, that's a best case Matt Campbell situation. Your fans won't rally around him until he wins big and consistently. If he doesn't win big you will have a divided fan base for a good 5 years. If you want to keep momentum up you pay $5,000,000+ for a big name. You hire a Les Miles Or someone that deserves a top 10 salary. We will sell out every home game for a star coach. If you hire a KA type coach you will be lucky to draw 60,000 for an 8 win team.

Saban only makes $7,000,000. He is easily worth $10,000,000 with as much relevance and publicity he brings a school.

Find $5,000,000 and target a Gundy, Patterson, Swinney, Or a Miles if he is really on the way out. IF you have to play it cheap go with Odom who the players love and is a local and will keep whatever positive momentum GP is leaving behind. This is not that hard to understand. If you want Mizzou to become a great brand spend the money on a coach and we will be a national story from day 1, go small and we will stay slightly above average and stuck in 2007.

I like Campbell, but Mizzou is not the place for him, period! The boosters and fans including on this board won't except him and his lease would be shorter than any other candidate.

Matt Campbell's bio and his Toledo records:

Toledo destroyed Arky St. and we barely beat them this year plus Arky destroyed us and Toledo beat them(Arky) this year.

I think mubobby has sources, probably on the football staff. Not sure they're the best sources on the coaching search, but he's been very accurate with recruiting information and other things.

I guess Campbell is still interviewing for Mizzou job. Along with Rhule.

I can't even describe how underwhelmed I am by these apparent options. So disappointing.

It's just a process. It won't be the Toledo feller.

No, if he goes to Iowa St. (which hopefully he does) it will be because he didn't get offered the Mizzou job (which hopefully happens)

Did I mention I hope Campbell ends up at Iowa St, because I'm hoping he does.

If it is Campbell, it appears Urban Meyer wanted him badly a couple of years back. LINK
