I get that comparisons are hard for dumb people. I’m not comparing what Saban is now to BO. I’m comparing Saban after 3 years to BO after 3 years. 3 years into Sabans tenure at Michigan State looked a lot like 3 years into BO’s at Mizzou.

Year 5 is where his team broke through and was really good.
It took Pinkel 5 years at both Toledo and Mizzou to start winning consistently.

Came straight from Saban’s sports reference page

None of the facts were wrong.

It’s a dumb argument and you know that in your heart of hearts.

The early Saban Years are normal for coaches that take over a losing program, especially schools that aren’t blueblood.

If Odom continues to improve then I will be happy with him as a coach. You probably never will. We are just different types of fans. I enjoy the games more.

You’re comparing Barry Odom to Nick Saban in this thread. It’s very clear that anyone not holding this opinion has superiority to you.

This loss wasn't even close to just being Odom's fault. Nobody on here has mentioned that absolute terrible play from our defensive backs. They literally can't cover anyone. Add in the fact that our dline gets zero pressure on the qb. Odom also didn't strip the ball out of Knox's hands. People on tigerboard saying he got outcoached so bad. What did Gundy do that was so great? Coach up a great defense that gave up over 600 yards. This was the 4th ranked team OSU has beaten this year. They were pretty evenly matched teams. Mizzou fans don't want to here it, but its true. Just because we are in the SEC, doesn't make us an elite team. Losses happen. ALL coaches make mistakes. What do you think our fans would say if Odom called that fake punt like Gundy did?

It’s not all on Odom. We did see the same defense we’ve seen for three years now against the pass. At some point the coach is accountable for that.

Odom has done well enough to retain his job and get a raise. With a raise comes increased expectations. At some point, the defensive genius will have to put an actual secondary on the field.

Walters is his DC and secondary coach. That rests on no one other than Odom. MU has the worst coached secondary in the conference and it isn't close.

We also have the least talented secondary in the SEC, except for maybe Vandy. He will have to show he can start to get better talent that is close to other SEC teams, but it doesn't happen over night. Recruiting rankings improved slightly this year, just like the record. If it keeps moving in that direction, then that is progress.

Knowing how to be in the right spot and using proper technique isn't found in a recruiting magazine.

Oh ok, talent and speed don't matter. How good of a football player you are in high school doesn't matter. It's funny, when a player like Tyler Badie plays well, we found a diamond in the rough. When our secondary sucks, the coaches just can't coach.

I'm not happy with our defense either and I hope something changes next year, but players matter. Period

Acy and Gillespie didn't get beat yesterday because they can't run.

Ok dude. We need you to coach the secondary. You are a defensive genius.
