I watched the end of the game again for torture.
Knox caught the ball and even if he wasn’t inbounds how is the hit not targeting?
It was the crown of the OSU defender to Knox’s face mask.
They replayed the catch how did they not replay the hit?
I didn’t notice it while watching the game, but after watching the replay it is pretty obvious.
It may not have changed the outcome of the game, but it is still a missed call that could have made a difference.

Didn’t think it was targeting. The defender hit Knox with his shoulder first, then slid up into the chin of Knox.
Also really dislike the targeting rule. It shouldn’t be a disqualification, and offensive players shouldn’t be allowed to lead with their helmets either. Half of the targetings called on DBs are the receiver ducking into the tackle.

They have the offensive rule in the NFL. I saw it called on Ezekiel Elliott a few weeks ago.
I have it on pause right now. Number #31 (Peel) hit Knox with the crown of his helmet to the left side of the face mask.
It was targeting and he did not lead with his shoulder

Was that the first point of contact or did his helmet slide into the chin of Knox? Without rewatching I can’t say.

It looks like helmet first. He definitely led with the helmet. The corner #14 was playing good defense. The safety Peel came in and made the hit.
Peel also had the final tackle on Lock.

Ingenious play call Peel broke up when he ran down that speedster Lock to win the game.

Franklin would have trucked Peel. That’s what Lock should have done.
Mauk also would have trucked him. Though neither were close to Lock as a passer.

They didn’t call Knox out of bounds, they said he didn’t finish the catch. That’s questionable, but I think they got it right.
It was definitely targeting though
