He didn't think Drink should have celebrated being bowl eligible by smoking a cigar.

Nothing to see/hear here.

he aint wrong. Drink embarrassed himself and the university with the behavior after the piggy game.

To his credit, drink is trying to put lipstick on this pig of a season. I can't blame him for that.

Hardly. I don't even know what you are referring to it's so irrelevant. No one was embarrassed, and if they were they should lighten up.

We beat a mediocre team we have owned since we joined the SEC and Drink celebrated like he beat bama instead of handled business like he should have.

Again, lighten up. Smoke a cigar if you need to.

Eh. I think there’s a point in there that McKernan was making.

Last year, Drink downplayed the importance of the bowl game until we lost.

This year, we’re told that it’s so important becoming bowl eligible. Then, the bowls aren’t really that important so let’s be done before Christmas etc etc etc.

Drink blusters a lot with a certainty that isn’t warranted by his performance.

And I think you guys are over-analyzing things. If he would have lit up a doobie in the PC then we'd have something here. If a guy can't enjoy a little success then what's the point of all of it. I'm not going to worry about cigars. Knock yourself out if that's your bag.

The things Mizzou fans whine about are incomprehensible.

It wouldn't surprise me if Drink lit up just to piss off the thin-skins. Mission accomplished if so.

I too had a cigar that night.

That said, I could go either way. getting a bowl game was the goal this year... it didn't happen in a pretty way, but we beat our "rivals" to get it. I also get the counter argument that celebrating 6 wins isn't a great look.

None of this matters. Next year is very clear that 8 wins in a requirement.

I've seen this phrase being used with Mizzou the last few days. Whether it be with Drink's cigars or choosing not to play in the Liberty Bowl, people seem to really worry about how we "look" from other perspectives.

I say who GAF what other people think. To me, it looked like Drink was enjoying a victory cigar. To me it looked like Mizzou accepted a better bowl, at a better location, vs. a better opponent. Maybe I need to get new glasses, but that's about all I saw in each scenario.

I chose to think the cigar was for beating Arkansas, not making a bowl.

The Gasparilla bowl isn’t the “better bowl.” I would rather go to Tampa than Memphis, if given the choice.

But the Liberty Bowl is ahead of the Gasparilla bowl in picking. And the payout (which doesn’t matter to Mizzou but does demonstrate somewhat that it is a “better” bowl) is far higher than the Gasparilla bowl: $4.7M in 2021 versus $1.12M.

That's about 350k per SEC school, which is small, but isn't nothing...certainly enough for each SEC school to keep a good coach instead of losing them to another conference.

Memphis is literally 4 hours from St. Louis, people would make that drive to watch it. Flying to Tampa to see a 6-6 team against Wake Forest isn't exactly a hot ticket.

Tampa v. Memphis

Enough said. This is for the kids. Not the fans.
