Okay. Just got finished perusing the illinoisloyalty board. Can someone enlighten me regarding the amount of hatred directed at Cuonzo? Is there history between uofi and CCM, or are they that upset that he's poised to take MIZZOU to a higher level?
Those guys/ gals seem more obsessed with what MU is doing than they are with what their big ten rivals are doing.

They're upset because they've been hot garbage for years and now that they finally had a decent recruiting class inbound, it's been shattered by Cuonzo.
The most fascinating part is how they're all calling Tilmon overrated now and how it's not a big loss.
At least we know the Arch Rivalry game will be good this year, as in Mizzou will stomp the daylights out of Illinois.

This is a shot in the nutsack to Illinois. It's more of just excuses and whining. "Zo is paying Tilmon", "Can't be Missouri, I'll bet he goes to UNC".
They don't hate us like kU does. Some are even saying they now look forward to the Braggin' Rights game. If it were kU fans they would be crying to end it as pay back.
There is some interesting history with Counzo, Illinois and Tennessee.
Remember the Deon Thomas fiasco at Illinois back around 1990? Thomas committed to Illinois, and a little known Iowa assistant by the name of Bruce Pearl recorded Thomas telling him about Illinois booster buying him a car. Pearl sent that to NCAA. That infraction caused Illinois to lose 4star PG Cuonzo Martin to Purdue.
Pearl was a slimeball, getting caught as HC at Tennessee forced to resign. Martin replaced him, but many alums never accepted him, wanting Pearl back, which lead to CM leaving for Cal.
So we can thank Bruce Pearl for being at Mizzou instead of Illinois.

What Pearl got fired for at Tennessee isn't even against NCAA rules anymore.
The NCAA penalized him because he lied to investigators about it.

Thanks. So this goes back to Cuonzo not wasting his talents at uofi?

I don't believe there was much mutual interest in CM coaching at Illinois. He seemed to be a distant 3rd choice for them, and maybe the prior events made him less interested.
I think it's more of a shock that Mizzou is suddenly a top choice place for basketball, and they're feeling the brunt of this.

and there has been no word on releasing him from it

Illinois will release him. If they don't that would pretty much end them recruiting in STL.

There is 0 chance they won't release him.

But they won't release him till Monday after Harris and Knox leave

Not releasing him right now just means other schools can't sneak in and talk to him. I got no problem with that.

Yeah. This doesn't change anything. And I'm sure the discussion with the recruits this Saturday will include Tilmon being on the court with them in the fall.

Tactical ploy by Illinois, but I don't see how it matters.
As bass said, I'm sure Harris and Knox will know about Tilmon.
