This has been an festering wound between Missourians for far too long.

It's time to set things right and let the healing begin.

I am not even a baseball fan but grew up a Cardinal fan, but why the whining still. Guy was out at 1st would not have been 3rd out anyway? Plus it was a game 6, Cards humiliated themselves in game 7.

While I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment, I stand with the OP in the interest of annoying the KC fans around here.

Therefore making this board, and the offseason, that much more entertaining.

If there is any festering wounds, it's attached to the butthurt St Louis crowd.

Yea, started to add a sidebet to the Card/Royals bet thread but decided to just skip it, here's a mock up of what I was going to put up as my loser sig image:

Between denkinger and all the fail calls at Faurot, Mizzou fans have suffered enough, sadly a lot of Royals fans can't admit they were handed that series rather than given a chance to earn it.

I'm not butthurt. Y'all needed a WS. We really don't need another one from the past. We'll settle for 2014's title.

Yeah you're right, the Royals didn't earn it. Even though the Cards had every chance to get out of the Denkinger inning, let alone game 7. The Royals smashed the Cards into oblivion in game 7, yet the crying from Cards fans continue almost 30 years later.

Like I said, butthurt. Let it go, Denkinger did not decide the series, the Royals did in game 7, deal with it, the Cards have plenty of other championships to hang their hat on. And no, I'm not a Cards hater, just a realist.

The fact is you don't know that anymore than I know for a fact that he did, we won't ever know.

Period, end of story, go ahead and crow all you want, it won't change that fact one iota.

Besides that, that wasn't the only problem Denkinger was at the root of, he also called the game Tudor pitched, using his strike zone.

Another problem with baseball in general is the insane inconsistency of varying strike zones, not just the blown calls like the obvious one in that game.

Until that is actually fixed with the technology that has been readily available, we have a very flawed game due to human error, this is the main reason I just don't pay that much attention to baseball, they need to get their shyt together and join the 21st century. Feigned attempts at fixing the problems like peds is only being done to keep the fans from walking away, not because they actually give a dam.

So are many aspects in life, deal with it and move on.

If you are truly a championship team, then you adjust to the circumstances. This is just more excuses Cards fans come up with.

I'm not crowing, just responding to a troll thread, which btw, is more amusing the more excuses Cards fans come up with.

You stated factually that he did not decide the series, and yet it's entirely possible that he did.

Deal with it, move on, etc, etc, etc, but the fact is fans of BOTH teams, including Royals fans who are big enough to admit it, were cheated by crappy umpiring in that series.

It was certainly not the first or last time that has happened, again, when MLB decides to get their crap together and stop making "show" attempts like replay reviews with all sorts of "ifs and buts" and just start doing what it takes to get it right, esp, the calls at the plate, I'm a casual baseball fan at best.

I'm a Royals fan who thought the Denkinger call was wrong. He was out by a half a step or so. If I recall though, the Cards had two errors in that inning that would of gotten them out of said inning. One being a pop up foul ball that was bobbled by one of the dugouts.

Did the Royals catch a break by the Denkinger call at first base? My opinion, yes. Did it lose the series for the Cards? My opinion, NO.

Under new 2014 replay rules the Cardinals win Game 6.

Championship claimed.

Nope, you can't say that. Even if you could retroactively make a rule change on something that happened 29yrs ago, Orta would have been only the 1st out of the inning, and he was forced out at 3rd (did not score).

Cards played flat. I think the biggest problem is they believed what everybody told them and had an overabundance of confidence, that it would all just fall into place. It didn't.
