Those actually work the best on long endurance canoe races. I admit that I did wear a pair on the MR 340 (4 day 4 night 340 mile canoe race on the Missouri River).

Hermann's a great city. That was one of the final checkpoints during the MR 340. I made it to Hermann along with 4 other paddlers on the 3rd night of the race around 10:00 pm. Very nice boat ramp access.
I believe the next checkpoint was around Washington, MO. And then it was a dash to the finish in St. Charles.
If by "Tevas" you mean "hippies", then yes, there are a few of those people around Hermann. Fo sho.
Good place to tour wine vineyards for a long weekend!

My question is, can anyone sign up and say they are a MIZ fan to gain access? Or do they have to be vetted in the rant first? There is a problem with kU/KSU/OU/Ill fans posing as MIZ fans on other boards.
