The hard part is looking at a head coach like Mullen and his success. He took over a program that was 4-8 with problems on both lines of scrimmage and his best options at QB are 50% passers in this league.

A Florida team we blew out at home just turned their program around to beat a “top 5” team five games into their season while we are arguing about progress and the silver lining of beating programs with losing records. We are always “just this close”.

How many players does Florida have that will play in the NFL? How many does Mizzou have?

Yes Mizzou blew the USCe game.

Chauncey Gardner, Jefferson, Ivey, Henderson, maybe a Scarlett or Perine, and maybe a Swain or Jefferson.

Let’s not act like they have superior roster talent right now.

For us Lock, Beckner, Elliott, E. Hall, T. Hall, Adams, Albert O, maybe Blanton because of size.

I thought T. Hall and Adams had a shot before the season, but don’t think so based on their play so far this season. I do think Palmore has a chance at the NFL.

And yes Florida has lots more talent than Mizzou does.

I would guess we won’t be at a physical disadvantage anywhere vs Florida except for their WR vs our DB

This is a pretty talented team.

Florida’s two deep outside of DB and Left Tackle is not that greatly different in talent versus us and we are supposed to have the major advantage because of QB. We are light years ahead of them on the offensive line as well. If we had any pass rush we could say the same at DE, but Zuniga and those guys can provide some level of rush.

There is a reason we had 7 players voted to preseason SEC teams by the coaches.

Moving forward, yes they will most likely have superior talent, but today you can not make that claim. A competent coach with our team has us in the top 25 at this point of our season with dominant wins and a close victory/loss to UGA.

DB is the 1 position that Mizzou has struggled the most with since joint the SEC. really before that as well. In the last 10 years Mizzou has had 4 players at that group that stand out. Gaines, Moore, Penton and Webb.

I still think this group, specifically with Holmes and Acy starting outside, can be competent enough to create stops. I don't know what Walters has them keying off, but it needs to change. Reading the uncovered linemen vs a pane of glass is where I'd start. They are too slow making the calls that keep the pass coverage on one page. The TE getting open in the middle of the field yesterday was all about concept understanding and communication. Walters is failing miserably.

Has Mizzou ever been good at covering the TE? Either Eberflus, Stec, Odom, Cross and Walters are all bad at their jobs or Mizzou needs better LBs.

Eberflus, Steck, and Odom in 2015 fan a pure Tampa 2 which is completely different what Walters is doing with his pass coverage. The LB has the deep middle in a T2 scheme. MU has never had the Mike to make that drop. Walters has the second level making a hook drop or carrying the crossing route in man. The issue yesterday was the exchange and rotation of the single high safety. Whatever the safety saw post snap, he read it wrong and the TE caught the ball 25 yds downfield. That isn't the LBs drop.

Gillespie broke to cover the RB coming out of the backfield and we had two guys on him and no one in the middle of the field. I realize we don’t have elite talent in the backend but stuff like that has nothing to do with talent.

It’s either that their position coach is not getting his message across or that he has the wrong message.

We are blowing far too many coverages

I know the BO crew will ignore, but Walters is/was à BO ego stroking hire/promotion, just thought I would highlight that one of many BO shortcomings.

and that

well into season 3 and we still have an undisciplined poorly coached team.

In 2 years we will be well into season 5 with a sloppy poorly coached team. But we will probably see some progress

I don't think people realize how bad this USC lost is. USC might win 5 or 6 games this year.

I also hate to tell you that this will be the most talented team Odom will have before he's fired next year.

This was the year he needed to win 9 games to prove if he had the players he could win. Well he's not, and it has nothing to do with the players, but the pathetic excuse for coaching that this staff has done.

Year 3 and your kicker doesn't know whether to pooch it or onside it? I mean jesus fricking christ, how is that even possible at the FBS level?
