Considering his history, happy they are cautious. I was hopeful but he shouldn’t return until he feels 100%. Next man up. Need an A game from secondary.

Blitz, blitz, and blitz again. Hes an over the top passer, get him off his spot at all costs. The DE's don't produce the kind of rush alone, they were always gonna need blitz help no matter if Smith played or not.

I think Batoon will selective about blitzing. Simpson and Webb and going to be a problem for State's interior and they dont have a tackle that can handle Hopkins alone.

Gonna disagree. South Carolina has excellent edge rushers and MSU handled them, and threw those long passes to their fast receivers. Hopkins will grow to be good but he's not Dylan Stewart, and not as quick as Addison.
Getting Taylor off his spot especially running to his right would be massive for us.

They have 1 excellent pass rusher and he has been hurt all year. He has played 14 total snaps and all of them vs State.

Sack numbers mean very little. If a player gets 2 sacks in a game, it sounds good but its only 2 plays out of 60 snaps. IMHO pressure and disruption is more important. If you apply pressure the QB has to hurry, the field shrinks, short yardage check downs are used also turnovers are more prevalent when pressure is applied. I like Hopkins because he has really good " QB pressure" numbers.
This is just my opinion, but I would like to see us cut a LB loose similar to how LSU used Perkins his Freshman year. He was the guy constantly pressuring the QB into mistakes and also piling up sacks, I think 3 vs Arkansas. I believe that's how we beat MSU today.

SC had 189 total pressures last year. Mizzou had 235. Their DLine wasnt good last year and they arent this year either. 32 of 56 pressures this season came vs Towson. They have been pedestrian at best in the other two games.

A starting D-line of Kitchen, Gracial, Webb and Hopkins would be all Missouri boys. Throw in Dowell and/or Marshall if you want because they might as well be.
