Will Moore call a smarter game with Cook looking doubtful?
I think we can run on Bama.

I don't know what other choice they have. Maybe a weeks work with the 1s helps Pyne out in knowing where his guys will be in their routes. Tollison is coming off his worst game of the season. His PFF grade was in the teens. He and Green have to get on the same page in the protections. They are both run blocking well but DCs are hitting the left A Gap hard on 2nd and 3rd down trying to get the offense off schedule. Moore is going to have to run the ball into it.

Pyne was a good backup at Notre Dame. He went 3-1 on the road and 8-2 overall. With the 1st team snaps this week hopefully he will be ready to play. Even if it’s not a win I don’t want another A&M embarrassment.
On the road against #12 USC he was 23/26 for 318 yards and 3 TD’s. In a win at BYU he was 22/28 for 262 yards and 3 TD’s. In a 35-32 win at Navy he was 17-21 for 269 yards and 4 TD’s with a 11 yard rushing TD. In 41-24 win at Syrcuse ND rushed the ball 54 times for 246 yards and Pyne threw for 116 yards and 1 TD.
In ND’s home win against #13 Clemson Pyne went 9/17 for 85 yards 1 TD and 4 rushes for 21 yards and 1 TD. In a home win against UNC he went 24/34 for 289 and 3 TD’s.
He didn’t start the season as the starting QB at Notre Dame, but came of the bench and played good against good teams. Pyne was a game manager when he was asked and drop back passer when they needed him to be.

Pyne looked bad on the plays he wasn't pressured on much less when Durkin sent an LB. If Cook cant go and Moore dials up another 40+ pass attempt day, they will get beat soundly.

My 2 cents which is probably worth less. Pyne didn’t look good on the short sideline outs. Seemed like he was anticipating receiver to cutoff route earlier. Seemed like a timing, rep issue. Also, play calling changed when he replaced cook. Understandable but conservative, predictable. Pyne throws a nice ball. If play calling and OL can give him some time, I think we have a punchers chance.

Pyne will need to be a game manager and not turn the ball over. He needs to shorten the game with runs and screens and keep it a low scoring game. Special teams will be important and could decide the game if the defense can keep it close.
I expect a lot of offensive penalties. With a new QB and the noise there will probably be a lot of illegal procedure penalties. When Pyne gets sacked it will probably be a loss of 7 to 10 yards. I hope the line protects the down a holding penalty is better than a 10 yard sack.

I looked his career stats over as well and he's not going to make plays with his legs. He's apparently a pocket passer only which bodes as a disaster given our pass protection if Kirby Moore sticks to his usual game plan.
The defense has to show out and a defensive or special teams score would go a long way toward scoring the upset.

Roberts and Lacy could win this game.
