I've become almost apathetic at this point. It wil be what it is. We will make an exciting, solid hire...or we won't. We will maintain/improve...or go to the cellar. This season has just really disappointed me. I'm not melting, or overreacting, I'm just sort of emotionally disconnected at this point. Some of the coaches don't give a shite, and have checked out, so I've kind of checked out too. This team, and university, have just worn me out.

None of these potential hires are moving my needle, tbh. Let's just hire Odom and be done with it.

Maybe I need to be talked off the ledge.

I'm feeling the same way.

If he wins, he stays. A lot of the other guys either don't or I seriously doubt they see Mizzou as a Destination job.

Miles and Richt are too old.

We don't have NCs to attract, and the protests and interim admins makes things look pretty bare without GP.

He'll still be around to help mentor and advise. If it's not Odom, the new guy will refuse GP to make it theirs.

Yeah, whoever is hired has to have a good relationship with ADMR. But not knowing who your boss's boss is going to be, and how that may affect the level of support you have to perform your job and meet goals, would be disconcerting to some candidates. Especially candidates who haven't been a HC before.

Hiring the right Chancellor is important. Hope the BOC doesn't choke.

The more I look at Larry Fedora, the more I like him. He would be a good fit in the SEC with his background and connections. Herman is definitely intriguing, but we know he wants the Texas job and we can't compete in a bidding war for him if he comes here.

If Larry can keep Odom as DC (long shot probably)that would be the ideal situation. Larry will never be top dog at North Carolina with their basketball history, so we could possibly pry him away. He is a proven coach and runs a good offense. I'm thinking he would be a nice fit here at Mizzou and could amp up our recruiting, especially in the state of Texas.

Even if Odom is hired, we probably get NC's offense. I believe Littrell has been approached about the position and has tentatively agreed provided he doesn't get the North Texas job. He also worked under Leach at Tech.

The inexperience of the principals in their new positions aside, if we can keep the defensive and S&C staff and the whole #MizzouMade thing together while overhauling the offensive side with new blood with southern ties, it could be the best of all worlds.

I know every talking head I hear interviewed about Barry Odom raves about his coaching intellect.

If he's intelligent enough to turn the offense over to professionals it could be a home run hire, given the bullshite atmosphere of the last month.

Now his I like the sound of. This sounds as good as anything I've heard. Provided we keep Hill on offense, Kul on defense, and Dr. Pat Ivy.

One thing is very clear to me. Rhoades runs and effective smoke screen. About the time you think you have good info, then something comes along that is the exact opposite of what you just heard.

After watching coach hirings for 40 years, I'd be willing to bet (a little money, not the farm) that someone has already accepted the job with only the details to be hashed out.

Besides X's and O's, most coaches are highly skilled in keeping employment news to themselves.
