I was watching on the SEC network an interview with Pinkel, Sabban, Freeze, Richt and Miles. I found myself wondering...Let's say Richt, Davis or Miles got fired and that school went hard after Pinkel.

Do you believe Pinkel would win the NC at one of those schools? I believe Pinkel deserves the attention that a big time program would bring, and he would have top 10 recruiting classes year end year out, but I'm not sold on his personality being a good match for those fans. But none of that matters on Saturdays. I think if he's at UGA or LSU, he's in the playoff within 3 years. Any thoughts?

Slow day? Pinkel stays at Mizzou until retirement.

Yes I do, I do believe he goes, if this was 2012 and past.

He has a foundation and system down at Mizzou. I don't think he'd want to start over for any program.

Whoa guys, I wasn't asking if he would leave Mizzou. I was wondering if he was at one of those schools would he be winning big? I feel like in the SEC, if you have a big time personality, you don't necessarily have to win or at least you get more free passes when you don't win. I think Pinkle wouldn't give the most dynamic interviews but I think he would win big at those programs.

He is awesome at developing players. He would get more 4 and 5 star recruits on name brand alone. With the right staff I think he would win a NC at a big time school.

Who knows, he has five years to win one with Mizzou.

Just to play onto this topic real quick, anybody have a guess as to who the next coach will be? In house maybe?

Steck

He's already 1-0 as a head coach at Mizzou.

I think Pinkel has matured a lot as coach in the last 10 years. I used to not be a big fan and now I appreciate how he has changed our identity in the last few years. I do agree though he can get to the playoff right here with the program he has. We've been a half of football away twice now, despite the lack of playoff the first time around. I see Henson as the coach in waiting, but mainly because Odom is unproven. Who knows, I'm thinking Pinkel has at least another 5 to 8 years in him if he still has the desire.

Odom is in his 4th year as a DC, Henson in his 3rd year as an OC. Not sure he is really more proven than Odom. Both will likely be HCs within the next 3-5 years.

I hear ya, I just think Memphis is not quite the same proving grounds. Not really an argument, just my opinion. Either could leave and be a head coach somewhere else and return.

Probably more likely that they leave coach a couple years & comeback than coach in waiting.

Grinch is another with Mizzou ties that's moving up the coaching ranks. DC at WSU.

Depends on if he has a stocked cupboard of top talent when he arrives or not. To me Pinkel is a good coach but he has a lot of negatives in my eyes that may hurt him at bigger programs.

To be a great coach on the college level you have to be an excellent recruiter as well as a talent developer. At some schools the name sells itself but you still have to be part salesman when you are in contention for high end 4 and 5 star talent. I don't think he can compete with a Meyer or Saban over the long haul to consistently bring in the talent needed to compete against those type of teams.

Another thing I see holding him back is his hesitancy in playing true freshman. One question I ask myself is would Ezekiel Elliot or Roderick Johnson have the same impact they are having at their respective schools if they decided to come to mizzou?

GP in a talent rich state like Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, or Florida would be a great recruiter.

He usually does a great job of getting the in state kids he targets.

Elite freshmen have played for GP, he just hasn't had many of them.

Also if he goes anywhere does Dr. Ivy go with him? He is a big big part of the success that Mizzou has had.

That wasn't the question, if he was there do you think he would win.

No disrespect to coach Pinkel, but if Miles left LSU would likely look at coach Orgeron first.
The bigger question should be is: at what point does Pinkel retire from Mizzou?

I think GP has about 5 years left in him? But who knows. You have to think he wants to win a conference title-BAD.
