We also need to fix the lack of turnovers on D. It hasn’t been the same since Steck left. Remember that streak of games with turnovers? It seems BO might finally realize this.

Forced fumbles are a function of proper run fits by the outside force player. Spilling the plays back inside to a LB or backside DE scraping down the line gives your stronger players a chance at punching one out. The run fits were non existent when Cross was trying to coach Pattersons defense. You aren't going to pull the ball out on a RB hitting the second level untouched.

The Cowboy's concepts that Dooley was exposed to give us lot to be excited about. My favorite is their Trips 2 Man Stack as discussed here:

Stacking Albert and Johnson to the field side on 3rd down is going to be hard to handle for every team on the schedule.

what I don't understand is playing "D" against that formation...Why do both receivers get free release? Shouldn't the TE get jammed?

You risk creating a lot of space for the slot by trying to jam the TE.

Drop rate will improve a little bit now that Moore has moved on. May take a huge jump, but it will definitely improve. Addition by subtraction.

Johnson and Hall had a higher drop rate than Moore

Turnovers are also caused by sheer talent

2001 Miami forced a lot of turnovers because they had so much speed, strength, aggression, and power

As well as good coaching

There is a lot of luck in turnovers also. Statistically speaking. I'm glad to see us emphasizing them but I highly doubt it's anything new.
