Derek Dooley - step right up.

Tweet from Mitchell Forde.

Odom says he could "talk for a while" about the difference between the offense against Ole Miss and today, but says in a nutshell the coaching staff isn't giving them opportunities to make plays. Says the team has good enough players to move the ball.

That's true

And at least he's not blaming the players

Why will his new hire be any better than his last?

Odom doesn't deserve another chance.

Punishing Scott and not Albert tells you everything you need to know about Odom and why he will never have a smart and disciplined program.

He's probably going to get one unless he loses out and possibly even then

Dooley still has a year left on his deal, I believe. I wouldn’t expect him to be fired.

Funny how quickly things change. Last year everyone was worrying about us losing Dooley and now they want him fired. Everybody hated Walters, but now they want him to stay.

Weird

I think Walters has had a good year for his career. He’s also got a good crew of assistants.

I think our assistants on the offensive side of the ball may be really bad as a group. Or it may be that Dooley makes them look worse.

And I wasn’t worried about Dooley leaving.

Yep. He also hired him. Is he not going to give him more than two years to figure it out?

There’s some irony in there. I’ll let you sort it out.

It won’t. Especially with the short leash he has. What hot coordinator would want to come here to be looking for a job at the end of next season?

This is the other point. Odom is firmly on the hottest of seats. What OC is going to want to come into this situation.

My guess is he dances with the ones he brought.

I don’t think he can. He’s forced to make a change. Unless he really knows why we #cratered after Ole Miss. And if he knows that, then it’s really interesting.

Dooley wasn’t his first choice. The contracts Mizzou offered to other options forced Odom pretty far down the list.

They need to find out what caused the nose dive after Ole Miss and make decisions from there.

Replace him with someone younger even if it's from the FCS ranks. We need new blood and Dooley is calling out plays that are just downright obvious.

Dooley is making 800k per year. Who else was offered that demanded a significantly higher salary than that?

Or his receivers suck, the line has completely regressed and the QB play has been bad for the past 4 weeks.

Look, I’m fine with replacing Dooley. It doesn’t really matter, but I’m not sure he is actually the problem.

I think we can all agree that something happened in the locker room to precipitate this incredible nosedive. The offense was above average through the Ole Miss game and now they can only manage 1 TD in 3 full games? That’s just too night and day to simply be explained away by “the coach sucks”. Especially since the coach didn’t suck for his entire tenure here before this stretch. It’s nonsensical.

It’s not all about what the annual salary is. There were terms that Mizzou wanted in the contracts that chased a few coordinators away. Sterk and and SEC also vetoed Freeze as the OC.

Like who? I remember the Freeze thing just trying to get a feeling for what “terms” there were and who else he tried to hire.

How about, hell I don’t know, explaining what it is you disagree with??? You ever thought of trying to add something to a conversation?

How is it that Dooley just starting sucking in these last 4 games? How do you reconcile that as a reasonable stance in your head? If so, what happened that led to this?

Try to think this out and give a reasonable/coherent response. I’m open to suggestions. “He just does” isn’t very compelling though

For me, it's the play calling. There are ways to be creative to get a receiver open, in open space. This lateral pass bullshite reminds me of when Josh Henson was the OC.

Everyone keeps mentioning this incident but I haven't heard anything concrete about anything so won't entertain that anymore.
