Does anyone have any reputable info on what the hell is going on with our OC search? Anything other than speculation?

No. And that's what I said in another thread. If Alden or Pinkel would come out and say "We are conducting a nation-wide search and are committed to hiring the best candidate for the job," I'd feel OK. But, instead it's eerily quiet.

Every time I've been in a situation where you know a change is coming, and there it's really quiet, the outcome ends up sucking. They are being quiet about what's going on because they know it won't be popular.

Of course, they could just be uncharacteristically quiet because they're working on some big fish and don't want embarrassment on either side, especially if that coach wants to coach in a bowl game.

Bottom line - no one knows anything, and that pisses me off!

From a poster on PM (seems to have good sources):

Pinkel wants internal hire (I think he said Josh Henson but it could also be Hill), administration is suggesting an external hire, boosters are demanding an external hire.

The conversation between Pinkel and Admin is amicable, but the boosters are starting to get restless. They have clarified that if Pinkel hires internally then its officially his arse on the line next year.

My cat just told me that while on the way to take a shite in his litter box he overheard our two dogs saying they read on twitter that T.J. Moe wants Andy Hill.

Then he squatted one out.

That's all I got.

Ned Reynolds just told me we aren't hiring Chaney. I think he is reliable.

I feel like I kind of laugh when, those of us that said "I am ok with keeping Pinkel with legit staff changes" and now we are served this shite. Idk if anybody has flipped tonight but I will tell you this. With the way we know Pinkel likes to hire, and him promoting his nephew last year I really dont expect that we will hire a great recruiter in the QB Coach slot. I think its a foregone conclusion at this point that our next OC is currently on the staff, but I really do not expect a coach with great connections to join the staff. What in the past would give me the inclinations to think so?

Sounds about right. Pinkel insisting "what we do works" and wanting to hire from his own little bubble.

Word on Tigerboard is that we were being cheap and got outbid for Chaney. Sounds like Pinkel may have been slow-boating this process in order to get his way. So the question is....he is willing to risk being fired next year if he promotes from within and gets poor to so-so results?

Can't disagree with you. Which sucks. Might as well prepare ourselves now. This will hurt recruiting too.

The problem isnt money actually. The boosters were alotting him up to $700,000 to get the right guy.

Now I definately could see Pinkel slow-playing it. And as for the last question, I was talking about that with my friend. I truly think Pinkel feels like he has two years. I think he knows there is a segment of the fanbase that is pissed, but that even if we have a shitty season next year, he would still get a final year. In reality I highly doubt he gets that extra year, but I do feel like he thinks his seat isnt as hot as it really is.

I'd love to hear what's really going on behind the scenes.

I think as Mizzou fans we all just automatically assume the worst and brace ourselves for disappointment.

Maybe, they went cheap. Maybe, GP is being stubborn. Maybe, Chaney turned them down because he thought Arky was a better job.

Hopefully, they have a surprise hire waiting in the wings.

Most likely however is that it's gonna be Hill. Hopefully he doesn't call 3 yards outs on 3rd and 9's.

He doesn't view it as a risk. He really thinks "what we do works." He's looked at the schedule and sees 7-5 or maybe 8-4 in his delusional dome and prays to the football gods we don't get hit with injuries like last year. He rides out this storm and gets to retirement at Mizzou.

The beauty of hubris is that it doesn't even have 20/20 hindsight. After next year and our inevitable 5-7 or 6-6 year, Pinkel will be blaming it on the boosters and fans. Or some other entity other than himself.

Bottom line - Alden has too much on the line to be risking bad decisions. A successful football program is the centerpiece of his big capital campaign. And he's very image-conscious, and doubtless concerned about the appearance of ineptness while other programs fill their staffs. He's known as being a controlling micro-manager, and goes overboard sometimes to counter this. But with everything on the line? if he lets Pinkel have his way on the hire, his seat is scorching.

I think it should be obvious at this point that Alden is going to let Pinkel have his way with the hire. Alden's expectation I would think though is if we fail again though, Pinkel is shite-canned. However, in the meantime he will let Gary do whatever he wants. Let yourself down now. Alden will not step in Gary's way until after the TAMU game in 2013.

I am still having problems with Henson as OC. You sit him next to a half arse Jeff Spicoli looking OC and tell him to watch and learn.

No No No !!!! Andy Hill maybe Henson No !!! We hired him as an Associate OL coach and recruiting coordinator. Where are his credentials??

GP you screwed the pooch last time you filled this position, do not do it again!!

Knowing the personalities involved, this makes complete sense, it's probably 100% true. And its 100% how it should be. If he wants one of his boys, then it's his arse if it doesn't go well.

Guys and gals. This is negotiations. Unless there is someone around the epicenter to leak info, no one will know whats going on until it happens. I've speculated all week. I'm done. I see things from the tidbits I read that add up in one direction but then again you never know.

When these guys are negotiating contracts, they may not even admit to making an offer until the offered accepts the contact. Sometimes alot of things need to fall in place before said can offer or accept a contact. It all takes time.

We won't know anything for sure until GP rolls it out.

I heard a rumor that Alden veto'd the Chaney hire due to his struggles in the SEC.
