He's currently out pacing Newson in just about every defensive catagory and was on the field first vs UMass. Not much being said about it by the guys covering the team but his sophomore campaign is off to an impressive start.

He's my favorite player. He's a heat-seeking missile. He's onery, too. Not only is he wrecking shite on D, he's our best special teams player as well, at least on KO.

I usually get excited when a younger player pushes his way into playing time. Often means they have something special.

Olugbode has shown some exciting flashes multiple times on offense.

Olugbode looks like he is on the verge of a big play everytime he gets the ball.

I hope so too. So far, Perkins and Lacy are the only players to transfer and go make a difference. Overall they seem to be be doing a good job of retaining the talent that matters.

I think we maybe lose Hilson. That's my only expectation.

Young is out of eligibility. If Wilson continues to have a >25% win rate on passing downs and keeps setting the edge vs the run, he will be gone too. There will be a lot of reps available in 2026 in Early's room. If Hilson doesn't want to stick around to earn them, so be it.

I wasnt implying that there are rumors. It's just that often times 5 stars aren't patient. But maybe Hilson is.

SEC edge play requires strength and technique that true freshman lack. Aldon Smith is probably the most physically gifted edge defender in program history and he had to redshirt. All you have to do is look at the growth Young has made under Early's watch. Hes not far behind Wilson in pass rush win rate and is arguably the best run defender on the line. He went from looking the part to rising up draft boards. Im sure Early coaches his guys hard, but he puts guys in the league.

It's early but his film is great. Puts his body on the line, plays with heart, has that Cody Schrager vibe for defense.

Im impressed by his vision and closing speed. Much like an RB reading blocks, a good LB has to read open grass and make the fill. So far Rodriguez always seems to be in the right spots and has the burst to get to the ball carrier. There have been several great WLBs in the program but Gooden is the only guy that looked faster than Rodriguez.
