"Nobody loses to Purdue better than Iowa. When Mizzou lost to Purdue it was embarrassing, but Iowa loses to Purdue with character and tenacity. You could even see how intelligent the Iowa players looked when losing to Purdue since they attend the Harvard of the midwest." - El Segundo Guy, probably

Kinnick stadium on game day is an amazing atmosphere. They’ll probably have a blast even with the loss.

When I go to Mizzou i always get off at the business loop what a dump i was shocked that whole side of town is a shite show. You have the state's anchor university and Columbia should never look like that. The gameday experience could be way better we have the foundation just no direction whatsoever. Being in the SEC we have to invest more into football we should never have a performance like yesterday we're trying to squeak out 6 wins after going .500 in an SEC only schedule DISGRACEFUL

Why do we give opposing fans tickets at the 50 breaking up the student section? Makes no sense. Stick them in a corner or up high. Son said it’s been like that this year. Band then students then opposing fans then a couple empty sections that are supposedly for students they think but all the students that go cram in by the band. Put the damn students at midfield. Is there an SEC rule that prevents it?

the business loop what a dump

LOL, I live here and it's literally the most dangerous part of town.

They're trying to revitalize it but it's not going to actually do sh*t:

Business loop is certainly a dump, but what can Mizzou really do to fix that? Most college towns have bad areas

We need to do away with the pop up tents on the north endzone concourse. Looks like a high school game.

The condition of Columbia is not even remotely our problem. In fact, it's something that we should be using to boost our gameday experience. I have news for ya, pretty much every town in America with 100k+ residents has some shitty areas. But most of Columbia is lovely, and our campus + downtown is one of the better that I've seen. Sure, I've seen prettier campuses, and I've seen prettier college downtown/bar districts, but Columbia and Mizzou do both quite well. We also have tons of great parks/natural attractions around town that are still pretty much hidden gems for locals and students.

You might notice that for as much shite that SEC fans give us for our pitiful gameday atmosphere, they usually have nice things to say about downtown and the university.

We need to make sure TV cameras face the west side. The way the camera is setup, it faces the side of the stadium that has students, and visitors. The other side always looks packed. When you're watching the game from home, it doesn't scream "I want to be there next week".

Also we absolutely. need to step up the north end zone concourse. It reeks of a high school stadium. Those pop-up tents have to go.

Agreed. We should reduce the size of our student section too. They have sucked for years and don’t give a shite. Sell some of those seats cheap to the public.

It's a 5yr old article on student prices for SEC games. Not sure if this is still true, but 5yrs ago we had the 2nd highest prices for students to go to games.

Maybe we should follow USCe and be part of the tuition. Or better yet, charge them for not showing up.

Agree - it’s too far gone. Especially with Columbia expanding South. This sounds awful, but they need to incentivize new businesses to come into the Business Loop area and basically gentrify it. The city’s only two strip clubs are on the same exact street. Maybe more policing in the area, to deter the current behavior of the troublemakers. You can’t drive 100 ft without spotting 10 homeless meth addicts. Sounds super judgemental and blanketed, but it’s the truth.

The business loop discussion has no bearing on the football games guys. Nobody cares and nobody really goes to the loop since the 90's. Visitors go downtown and they go to the football field. They usually bypass the entire loop because they take 63 to Stadium or 63 to Broadway.

No reason to cruise the Loop to go to a game. People headed to a game hit downtown, the campus and Stadium Drive. Listen it is simple if we win the atmosphere is pretty damn good head back to 2007, 2008, 2013 or 2014 and you will see amped crowds and excitment. After the "strike" not one of our teams have been very damn good aka the atmosphere sucks. frick I am a part of the problem I was so excited to move to COMO for the 1st time in my life I could attend all the games. Then COVID and this defense has hit. I walked out of Tennessee before half and will not return to watch that defense play. I think Drink can build something but the defense is the worst I have seen since I became a fan in 1978. But on a positive just got my season tickets for wrestling again this weekend.

Common in the SEC. Why? No clue. Probably because most schools dont have student sections there. Maybe just to provide a bit of a buffer between visiting team and home fans?
