I think if Jontay was going they would have announced it together.

They assume that Jontay will declare and not hire an agent for a possible return.

It’s too early for Jontay to declare without an agent. He needs to be evaluated still before he comes out with his actual decision. With MPJ declaring early and Sr. gone, Jontay is out.

I’d put my life savings on it.

With Jontay not being 19 yet, does he need to wait until a certain date or is it anytime is ok because he will be 19 before the deadline?

Nope. He turns 19 in November. You just have to turn 19 the same calender year of draft to be eligible.

Thank you sir for the info. Also, I didn’t mean to imply that Jontay was jumping to the league either. Just a general question about his age.

All indications are that Jontay plans to go pro as well. He would not hire an agent, so he can come back if he doesn’t like the feedback he gets in the draft process.

Maybe this is their legacy, showing other local recruits that it’s ok to stay in Missouri and go to Mizzou. STL has about 15 SEC caliber recruits in the next between 2018, 2019 and 2020 classes. Most are the type that will be in college 3-4 years, Mizzou could build a nice program off of a core of those recruits.

I have a feeling Jontay is going to get a end of the 1st RD evil and go anyway. Spend some time in the G league.

Yeah I'm glad they were here. It helped. I'm just making fun of the pumpers that insisted they would come back. I kept saying Jontay would come back but that was based on my guess of his eval (I thought he would just miss). He still will probably be back if he doesn't hear from some one he's going in the first round. It will be close.

They are making smart financial decisions. Why wouldn't they

The NBA has really invested in the G League in recent years. The new 2 way contracts are good for NBA teams to get young players time to develop while getting paid and playing.

How much do they earn? Are these mostly undrafted players?

Jontay probably isn't making a smart financial decision. He's not going in the lottery.

In the last part of the first round he's still going to make a few million, but if he stayed and got into the lottery he'd triple his earnings.

Also, if your projection is last part of the first round there is always the possibility that you fall into the second round where a lot of guys only get 1 yr of guaranteed money not even reaching the million dollar mark.

A 2 way contact is going to max out at a little over 100k. Guys can make more than that playing in Euro leagues.

Of course, this all assumes he can improve his stock. I'm of the belief he can. He can improve his body and he is weak with the ball on the block.

There are a lot of 2017 first round draft picks that have spent time in the G League.

Pay depends on the amount of time spent on the NBA roster.

We are guessing. My guess before was that if he didn't hear from a team that they were interested in him in the first round he would come back. Senior leaving clouds that.

Anybody know if the rest of the family (or senior) are sticking around?

Where is this talk about Sr. leaving coming from? I haven't seen talk of that anywhere, nor would it make any sense.
