Truth is in the middle of the 2 sides. Expecting KA, not a known recruiter, to fix the roster in 1.5 years probably wasn't reasonable. Some of the roster issues fall on prior coaches, some on KA. Not keeping J3 is on KA. Not recruiting any JUCO guys last year was also a mistake.
This freshmen class is a solid class. With 3 players that will finish their college careers as 1000+ point scorers.
But improvement is needed. The blowout losses to P5 teams needs to end. Also need to start beating some of the other P5 teams that aren't very good. Mizzou has about 10 of those games left of the schedule.

J3 liked Kim Anderson but no longer fit in with these players. Kim will also get at least 2 more years to truly rebuild this program that was bare bones when he got here.

Yeah, wasn't barebones when he got here. Look how many kids he ran off. Be knew we needed big men and recruited 6'7 guys instead. Nice excuse but I'm not buying it.

Lost just about 80% of all production from the prior year in Clarkson, Brown, & Ross. There was a reason that Haith left. A compatible rebuild is what Creen did at Indiana. Only he was a know/proven D1 coach.

J3, Beidschied (who's averaging double figures at JSU), Torren Jones, couldn't hold on to Punter who's better at UT than any of our guards. KA's poor recruiting is what has the roster in the shape its in. Inexcusable he didn't go get a quality big last class. Only one guy on the team over 6'8.

This a joke right? You haven't named one single game changer. He let crap go. J3 didn't fit in with the guys. He said it himself.

One thing that I know is that under Anderson and Haith they consistently won at least 20 games a year and maybe there was like one 18 game win season under Haith.(I think) In Haiths first year he had I think 2 6'8 players and the rest were midgets and they won 30 games regardless of being knocked out in the first round of the tournament.(they made the tournament)

Don't forget Haith's first team and year he had no recruits coming in and they played with 7 scholarship plays and the rest of the team were walk-ons.

I didn't want Anderson, but I have this weird feeling in my heart that by next year or the year after if he's still here they will turn it around. Patience!!!

I've spewed a lot of negative stuff against KA. I think they should have went all in for Marshal and not take no for an answer. But that's history. We got what we got.

Here is my real view on KA. I think KA could take a page out of Haiths book and go after transfers and jr college transfers to plug in to win right now. But, I don't think that's KA's style as we've seen. He tore this program apart and is trying to build it from the ground up. We know that, it's whats been said over and over. But I see it as a reality. We are going through growing pains doing it this way by having a young team. But it's his team and his young guys and his way. He is the HC and you have to give him that latitude. Now, I'm not a big fan of his recruiting, but doing it his way he has to recruit the best he can get and develope those players. Which takes time in hopes they can turn his program into a respectable enough program as to attract better recruits. Right now during a rebuilding process, those players want to win now and that's just not going to happen now. So, as much as I want to just pull my hair out, I have to try and give KA the time to run his course which to me should realistically be around 4 years.

I talked to someone I know today who played D1 P5 school basketball. We talked about KA and his coaching style. He told me we need to be patient that KA will turn out given the time. You can't really "coach" during games. That has to be during practice. Really all you can do during games is point things they are doing wrong and then work on them during practice and execute during game time. Just his opinion and what he told me. He told me this because I was complaining about KA's demeanor during games. Not a whole lot of coaching going on is what I said.

So that's kind of it in a nutshell for me. Even though I cry and complain and say sarcastic reamarks, I think KA will be here at least 4 years, maybe more, unless there is just a let off and absolutely no improvements. JMO

He's focusing on his academic life.
They are "evaluating his progress."
Could be temporary. Might not be.

Most the top 15 teams walk ons are better than our starters though.

We have no chance at Porter any way.

quote:

We really only have one size guy coming in Nikko, who doesn't play AAU and only averages 9ppg in HS. Smith is a faceup 4 who I've heard described as a worse shooting Jankovich. So don't expect him to go inside and bang, he's more of a float around the 3pt line kind of guy. And Jackson is another Puryear, good player but at 6'6 is too small to play a P5 PF.

KA can't recruit for shite, and be obviously can't coach a lick either. What players have gotten better under him? He needs to go asap. Worst thing that could happen is we bring him back next year as it delays any success that much further. And he's going to cost us Porter. The dudes a cancer.
