Would be interested in a package with him coming in and running some zone read/option stuff.

Would likely also stop him from transferring if he's considering it.

Probably some short yardage package stuff. At this point until Russell has a burst again, Marvin is our best running option. That's sad to think about actually.

Do we really want MZ taking shots like a RB? Granted he could be a fairly lethal weapon coming out of the backfield as a run/pass threat.

I would have no problem putting Zanders and Lock in the back field doing a trick play or two. But would the WR's catch the ball ???

Maybe they could throw it to each other

Printz needs some game reps now that he is #2 on the depth chart.

Printz & Zanders are listed as "OR" on the depth chart.

Printz is much more like Lock, so probably only plays if there's an injury.

Zanders could play in a couple plays to get his athleticism and pass run option.

So does Zanders at this point

mubobby posted this on TB

Zander's is technically the backup Saturday, but it's situational. If we were down late and had to pass Printz would play but Zander's would get the call otherwise. A special package for Zander's is being considered for Saturday.

if the offensive line is the sieve it's looked like so far, it very well might.

mubobby also said, big difference in the throws by Mauk and Lock.

quote:

How many drops of Lock's passes? How many of Mauk's? Lock throws a very pure, accurate, catchable ball. Mauk throws from a weird angle, and consistently puts ball in awkward positions.

Lock is a much better thrower of the football and Id be surprised if that didn't translate into our WR hands all of a sudden getting much better.

This should be an entertaining game for a variety of reasons.

Wonder if the Tigers won't go with Zanders on short yardage plays in a quasi Wildcat offense. Pinkel doesn't really do that but to protect Lock and maintain the QB run potential.

no, we don't need Zanders getting injured, we have no idea how long Mauk is out for.
