Add Ramey and we're looking good.

Still think we need a 4 if Jontay leaves

Him and Liddell are pals from what I’ve gathered. Smith seems similar to Cuonzo actually as a player.

Sitting out a year will help him find his shot.

A good steal from the Illini

Mark Smith is good friends with Ej Liddel. He says he talks to Liddel all the time. I think we can saftley say that Ej Liddel is our recruit to lose next year. Dudes, if we land Ramey for this class and Liddel for the next class, every recruit in St. Louis is going to start looking at Mizzou as a serious option. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Mizzou at this level in terms of St. Louis recruiting. I don’t know how we well fair down the stretch under Cuonzo, but one thing if for certain, as long Cuonzo is here, the top talent in St. Louis ours! We’re kicking the living shite out of Illinois on the recruiting trail.

Also, I stole this sweet melt from an Illini message board
quote:

General Musings: Do I wish Mark the best of luck? Absolutely. Do I think Cuonzo Martin is an unethical bastard who will eventually get nailed with infractions stemming from improper and illegal recruiting practices? Absolutely. Do I think that Cuonzo Martin swayed Tilmon from re-signing with BU and the new staff at Illinois? Indeed. But do I think that losing Smith after a year and failing to sign THT will affect our ability to recruit St. Louis and Chicago? No, no I do not. Our staff is better than that; the fact that we were able to land Ayo and seemingly have the backing of the Irvins; and what BU and his staff were able to do after missing out on several key recruits, recruiting a Top-100 player in California and, when it is all said and done, another player from NY who is likely to see is ranking jump from a 3* to a 4* and end in the Top-150 (if not the Top-120), is remarkable. Despite losing Smith and three other players, BU and Co was able to improve the overall talent and depth of this team. So we will be fine going forward, both on the court as well as the recruiting trail.

Makes me smile everytime I read it

Illinois is probably 3rd(in the region) as far as schools competing for STL talent, currently.

I don't understand...did they expect CM to not pursue Tilmon? And what about CM's background even hints toward recruiting violations? They need to face the fact that Illini athletics has a losing culture and it will take special coaches to remove the stench of losing from their athletic department.

Much as I dislike Illinois they are recruiting nationally and they just recently snagged a small forward or wing player down here in my neck of the woods in Southern Cali who I wished Mizzou could have gotten. This kid can shoot!

Are you sure Jones can shoot? Every scouting report I have seen on him makes me think that he’s a Hargrove type of player. Meaning big time athlete, that needs time to develop his offensive game. His early impact in college will be defense and as an energy guy.

Jones is also the brother of Torren Jones. He got kicked off the team a few years ago.
