If its any consolation, a well executed spread offense works in the SEC. It brought Florida and Auburn National championships and a Heisman trophy to Texas A&M.

Oz, I'm not the recruiting guru on this board. That would be Mizzou23 or URHatingIt. I know there are still plenty on there.

I know, and we're better than we showed last year. That was a perfect storm of injuries. This season should be better. But the defense is a concern to me, especially the secondary.

I am encouraged that we've picked up some solid Florida commits, and are hopefully making some headway in Georgia too. We also have a few from Tennessee
Very good signs.

But we're losing out on our home state kids, and that's an issue.
To whom? SEC foes or B1G poachers?

. If we either 1) win, or 2) replace the coach after this season, it will stabilize, and a new coach that is a great recruiter can change that trend. IMO.
Is the perception of Pinkel simply that he's not the best recruiter or is his actual coaching also in question. The last time I watched him in person was when he tore up the Aggies in Kyle Field in 2010. A&M's worst game that year, to be sure, but Pinkel had us on lock from the word go.

You can hang with the upper tier teams in this league even with a suspect secondary. A&M's wasn't that great last year, but with so many run-heavy teams it wasn't an issue.
That Dline must be on point, though.

To everybody. We're just standing here with the fridge open while the NY Strips, Lobster, Salmon, organically grown cage free eggs are being taken and all we're left with are hot pockets and string cheese.

I like lively, polite discussion of college football. There are other people like me that have very insightful discussions of SEC football.
We all want the best for our respective institutions.
I am a die hard LSU fan. That is my perspective. No apologies there. I have attended a lot of college games.
It is my experience there are no right or wrong opinions when it comes to college football. I think though, some find it difficult to be objective about their teams. At least there was no slum prudery in the discussion tonight.

One last point. Teams are never as bad as they look or as good as they think.

TBird, Pinkel is known to be very intense and focused. But not necessarily a great recruiter. We have good recruiters on staff, but he's not what I'd consider one of them. We always lose a few KC kids to Nebraska or KState, but we do well there. We just seem to lose some good St. Louis kids. Some of them are going into the Big 10 (tOSU, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois), but some are starting to look at the SEC. We lost one who decommitted from us and committed to Ole Miss. Another wants Bama, but likely won't end up there. That's the trend that needs to stop.

I don't understand the allure Bauer has for Ole Miss.

This is too good. I hope you post often.

I enjoy it too, and it's one of the things that is SO great about the SEC compared to the big 12. The fans are much more knowledgable, and will give you insight if you can get away from the trolling. Glad you're part of our board here!

allure, well placed big boy word.
Ole Miss is loading up with talent, the coach is locked in there, and it is a place with good tradition. Now look who isn't being objective about the truth. Pains you to think of Ole Miss back on the up n up doesn't it?

That ahhhhhh sound just happened all around my head and a great white light appeared. I feel enlightened.

Agree 100% on that one.

Me either. I'm just not convinced something shady isn't going on down there.
I'm not foolish enough to think that we're going to get every Missouri kid we want. Some of the just want to get further away to school. But we should be doing eter than we are.

I know y'all had a pretty good pipeline going into Texas awhile back. Is that no longer the case?

Are you truly this rude to everyone IRL? You need to drink a little more of your product. And if you'd like to share, let me know - I love some good wine!

Well, when you are the Great and Powerful Oz, I can make these types of pronouncements, but even the Great and Powerful Oz is at a loss to understand your recalcitrant attitude. Let's just say 'It is what it is' and leave it at that.

It's not what it was 2 years ago. But we've put several Texas kids in the NFL, and have a lot of Texas kids still on the team. I think we have a couple in this class, so far.
