Other schools look like Louisville and Arky at the moment.
I know a lot of you guys want him but this has the potential to blow up in our face imo. I really don’t like the idea.

Why?
Mizzou has a great running game, you add Bryant's ability to run and defenses would be in a tough spot. Play action passes out of it and you're playing a ToP game next year with what could be an even worse defense than we have this year.

Worse defense? I think it will be better. The DE all return except Anderson. I expect at lest 1 of Turner, Williams, Jeffcoat and Hansford to take a big step forward.
Same with the secondary. All but Cam return. I expect at least 1-2 players there to take big step forward.
Elliot, Whiteside, Thompson and Byers should be solid at DT.
That leaves replacing Hall and Lee as the key to improving some.

Lee and Hall both graduate. I think Miller takes Lee’s spot and Bolton takes over for Hall.
I see the run defense taking a step back, but the pass defense being better

Off topic but is Henry Ballard a lost cause?

I don’t think he’s very good and adding a grad transfer has the potential to whipe out our QB depth.
If we want to run the QB a lot why not go with the guy that’s already here?

QB depth is going to take a hit anyways. I would bet that at least 2 of the 4 backup QB transfer.
I have also read that Thompson wants out of Manhattan. He’s on pace to graduate in May and would have 2 years to play.

Lowery and Scott can transfer. Won’t matter. I don’t want Powell and Wilson leaving because they didn’t get a chance at the job just to get an avg player for 1 year.
Meh, maybe.

If Odum is fired and the staff turns over, he won't come.
If Odum is not fired, then Dooley will stay to run his pro-style offense, and Bryant is more comfortable in RPO.
So he won't come either way. He's just touring for headlines and attention, he already knows where he's going.

We are running a lot of RPO with Dooley right now. Everyone runs it.
If I was him I’d be doing my homework and making sure I find the best fit

You talking about Skylar Thompson. Just talked to him, he's totally happy at K-State and still wondering why Mizzou never offered. His uncle owns a nice restaurant here in Omaha.

You thought it would be better this year.

Technically it is and we haven’t played the weaker back half of our schedule yet. Haven’t played Alabama yet either though

So a bunch of guys who have never played will be better than established Seniors?
You don't just replace Beckner, Palmore, and Hall. The secondary has been shite for 3 straight years, what makes you think it would be better than this year? You adding a safety I don't know about?
Only strength of this defense is the middle and a lot of it is graduating.

There’s really 2 key losses from the seniors. Beckner and Hall.
Elliott, Whiteside and Byers are playing about 30% of the snaps on defense this year.
Garrett is still there in the middle.
Hilton is the only senior in the secondary, when Walters has blitzed the pass defense has been at least average.
So as long as the DE position improves or Walters his blitzes I do think the defense improves. And maybe some of those improvements start taking place over the second half of the season.
Gillespie and Bledsoe had their most extensive playing time against USC. They are higher ceiling athletes at safety. Of course Gillespie is also the guy that blew the coverage on the TE on the last drive.

We’ll take a step back on defense and two on offense next year.

I guess it depends on your thoughts on 2 things. Does experience matter? And does Mizzou have the athletes at those positions to take developmental steps forward with experience.
I think the answer is yes to both questions on defense. (DE and DB)
In offense it depends on the QB and if AO leaves early for the draft.

I think I will default to Dooley and McGee's assessment of the QB room. Continuing to add talent and elevating competition for every room is paramount. If this guy can do it, let's get him.

Competition is one thing, but any desirable grad transfer with 1 year is not coming in to compete. If they aren’t guaranteed the starting spot, then they aim comin’
