No need to worry. The right thing is being done.

Leaks will emerge in front of the BOC meeting, 808 is dead on, nothing will be formally announced until Tuesday.

It's all on the "candidate" at this point, as the resources are lined up to meet his needs. Salary, staff, etc. Folks have stepped up their game considerably for this one.

Ok, I believe you, but I'm retaining the skepticism earned through previous coaching hires and conference membership choices (you know the history as well as I do) that people got stampeded into getting too far ahead of ourselves, leading to mass dejection. Mass dejection on an internet message board is not a pretty thing. I hope your source is correct.

With the wrong hire, I will melt regardless of whether 808 passes along what he knows from someone else knowing from the person who knows. I, for one, appreciate just hearing what is going around and determining for myself what weight to give it.

I'll take the one with most final fours please. Thanks!

So Marshall is a little younger. Probably not enough to be the difference.

Both could jump to another program.

Howland has some issues in his past. Not a deal breaker, IMO, but needs a good plan to mitigate risks.

Howland has more FF success.

Both have built up multiple programs.

Howland has a little more flashy recruiting success. But that wasn't sustained for the length of his UCLA stint. Edge to Howland.

Howland is probably $2Mish. Marshall is probably $3M.

Marshall is the first name mentioned with every opening. Howland seems to have been skipped over a few times.

It's probably a wash with the edge going to whatever a particular program deems is more important.

There's probably only 20 schools that could (would want to) afford Marshall. We are one of those, oddly enough, because SEC.

I like Marshall because he's done what he's done in Wichita.

I dig Howland too, but the style is boring and my dog could probably sign blue chips at UCLA.

I hope you and 808 actually have reliable sources. Not to insult Kilgore, of course, Kilgore rules.

Anderson is NOT in the discussion.

I could live with Howland. Anderson would be a major disappointment.

I think you worded it right. I could live with Howland. Doesn't make me jump up and down screaming "Yes" but I won't beat my head against the wall either, for now at least. I can live with it.

This is from PM, from a "trusted poster"

Good Info from Church This Morning
I have kept my head down on the board due to the relative lack of new information and the silly posts claiming insider information. With that said, I had a very interesting conversation this morning at church.

One of our members is cousins with Ben Howland and while she rarely talks with him, she has another relative who communicates with him daily. She mentioned Ben told her relative about his interest in the Mizzou job last week and has always been good about staying in touch. This isn't groundbreaking news for anyone on here. However, she told me that Howland's phone went silent sometime yesterday and he is not answering calls or responding to texts. According to my friend, this never happens and seems to point at something big coming up.

Again, it's not earth shattering, but it is noteworthy (and accurate.)

Just thought I would pass it along for all the Tiger fans hitting refresh constantly."

And a response in the thread:

"Yes, he does have an aunt and a cousin in St. Joe--members at the church we attended before we moved to LSMO. Howland paid for his aunt to go to his Final Fours. Whole family showed up at church with UCLA jerseys after the first one. Not just a "casual" cousin connection.

I cannot vouch for the cousin in Springfield, but I can report a similar "radio silence" comment from St. Joe this morning.

FYI: Another Howland cousin in St. Joe (not a member of our former church) has a son at Mizzou right now. Believe he was on a soccer team with TrueSon in elementary school days."

So my take:

Alcohol/Drugs/Team Fighting = Haith = No Final 4's = Not Acceptable

Alcohol/Drugs/Team Fighting = Howland = Final 4's = Acceptable

Yepp, sounds about right to me. As English says, reconcile by winning. Just win and I don't give a shite about the other stuff. Don't win, and it will once again be issues and Howland (along with Alden) will both be gone. I think its a good, but ballsy, decision by Alden to hire a guy who got fired for many of the same reasons that he just ran off his previous coach.

And this response from Gabe:

"I got two emails within about 15 minutes of each other this morning saying that Howland's relatives (one of them is involved with the KC Blazer swim team FWIW) and friends have not talked to him since Thursday. He's on complete radio silence. May mean absolutely nothing, IDK. But like you said, people are looking for anything."

Does this Howland news align with your information? I'm assuming the Anderson info does not...

From what I know Anderson stuff is disinformation.

It's not coming from the AD office directly.

I stand by my source, dancing bananas are inbound.
