I dont think either QB is the answer. But Franklin struggled against Florida. Berk struggled against Kentucky. Pretty much we will live or die by what Franklin does for the rest of the season. After this season, I just hope Mauk has a really good Spring.

One more thing, DGB is starting to become the guy we expected him to be. He's playing with more confidence and it shows.

He was our best playmaker today.

Absolutely right about this.

Berk did struggle against Kentucky but comparing that to Franklin playing against Florida isn't fair. Compare Berk against Bama with Franklin against Florida or Berk against Kentucky and Franklin against a junior high school team where he was:

Franklin, James 13-21-0 131 1 29 1

I dont see why it isnt fair. Berk had easier competition. Ill make it simple. Even after Franklin stuggled that much, Pinkel STILL didnt put Berk in. What does that tell you? Listen criticism of Franklin is more than fair. But lets not pretend like there is some better option that will step right in and be the savior for the team. What we have is what we have got. Whether we will get to a bowl game or not depends on how Franklin plays from here on out.

I'm back from the beach, and after a beautiful sunset dinner with my wife on the coast in Del Mar, I've realized something...

Franklin sucks, Berkstresser sucks, and Tyler Gabbert must have really sucked bad.

First, I'm not suggesting they play Berk. I don't want them to.

Second, all I was saying is yes Berk looked like shite against Kentucky but Franklin looked like shite against SELA too, much lesser competition. Berk looked like shite against Bama and Franklin looked like shite against Florida. If you want to prop up Franklin by saying he looked like shite against a better team I can turn it right around and say Berk looked like shite against a better team (Bama) than Franklin (SELA) so now whose shite stinks worse?

Lets just call a spade a spade. I am praying Maty has a good spring. Jizz Jar has me hopeful that a RS FR can have success in this league. We will see how dedicated he is to studying the playbook and getting quality reps in though.

Just a thought here. Checked out some highlights, and talked things over with a friend who played SEC football and watched part of our game. He thought we played a very good game, and exposed some of Florida's challenges - specifically, their lack of depth to continue a high level of pressure the entire game. He thought Franklin's problem was that he was worrying about the pass rush and not focusing on the coverage downfield. His perception was that Franklin was afraid of getting hit, and didn't trust the line. After re-watching some plays, I think he's onto something.

Franklin got hit a couple of times early in the game, and then Britt went down. A patched up OL became even more patchy. They got in his head, and he was too focused on when he was going to get hit next, and not enough on the coverage. That left Florida's really good safety able to make those key interceptions.

The good news is that Tennessee doesn't have a defense anywhere close to Florida's level. They do, however, have one really good DE who comes off the edge. If we can control their pass rush, and protect Franklin, we should win that game.

JMO, of course.

This has been true most of the season for him. A perfect storm with the injury and the poor o-line, it's been in his head since UGA.

It happens. I remember when this happened to Kurt Warner after he broke his hand. He threw a lot of picks that year as well.

Looking at that last pick, he had Lucas open at around the 8, but he was dead set on pushing it into the end zone. He never even looked at Lucas. It's almost like he needs to slow it down mentally or something. As anyone who's played sports knows, sometimes you can let your mind take over and go faster than your body.

I don't know, upon further review, I'm not ready to throw in the towel on him this year, like we've all agreed, there's really no other option. I just hope there's a good competition this spring and either he fixes what's wrong, or Mauk is the real deal.

We'll see.

Folks are just being emotional.

Its clear as day that Franklin is the better option. Not saying either one is playing at a level to take this team to a bowl game but the best option to win lies in Franklin taking snaps.

No the best option is whoever can throw the fricking football.

We are not a running team, Yost refuses to be a running team.

We line up spread and throw the ball over 40 times a game. We are a completely pass oriented offense.

Our quarterback can't throw the ball over 10 yards though. Do you see what i'm getting at?

There are kids on the team that have played back yard football that can throw the ball better then Franklin. He is NOT the best option to give this team a chance to win

There just are not good options at this point. Let Franklin finish out the season. Hope he does enough to beat Syracuse because there will be a complete meltdown if we lose to them. And then hope to hell someone steps up in the spring. Printz and Hosick are enrolling early in the spring right? Not that I expect them to step in automatically but hopefully they create more competition in the spring. If I'm any of those QB's I'm savoring at the mouth to prove myself come spring seeing an opportunity given the play they've seen this fall.

Then you are telling me one of the most pass oriented teams in college football doesn't have a quarterback who can throw the ball.

That's entirely on the coaching staff and they should without doubt be fired immediateily.

He may have been worried about the pass rush. He had some defenders in his face yesterday. I still think his mechanics are off and he needs to get back up to game speed. He's been off for awhile and it shows. He didn't see the field well at times yesterday and he just plain over threw some balls. They were all sailing high. To me it's about mechanics and practice. I still thinks he's more injured than we all think he is and they want us to know.

Damn, I thought I took this loss hard and might of gone overboard a bit. But damn dude, that's pretty harsh. I'm with ya on the pissed off part, but firing our coaching staff isn't and shouldn't be the answer. Relax some.

Lol. Pump your brakes. It's up to the players to perform. This staff has developed QB's in the past.
