Is Barry just a Bad Person?

Heupel couldn’t get away fast enough. Elarbee took a pay cut to leave with him. Barry brings in cronies who don’t have credentials in order to keep the underlings in line. Word is that he wanted to fire Hill last year and AD wouldn’t let him so he moved him to Special Teams and brings in a crony, Ofodile, to coach WR. Walters position blows arse and has since he’s been here. We know what his relationship with Kuligowski is.
All of his statements to the press are self-serving. He owns nothing. Takes responsibility for nothing.
I have had a suspicion for a long time (before he was hired) that not many of his peers like him. And there’s a reason for it.
Sorry. I was at the game and I’m still melting.

Bass, I have a close relative who has spent a lot of time with BO, business-related (hint: the stadium remodel).
It appears BO is strongly disliked, arrogant, and demanding.
I think your post is spot-on.
ETA: demanding about things that he has no authority over

A good manager does not run off good people. Look at his history and the success of those that have left.
"I" guys never seem to get it, even after they have been fired.

A good HC wouldn't throw one of his own players under the bus to save face either like he did on that ridiculously stupid fake kickoff a few weeks ago. That may be small potatoes in the scheme of things, but it does show a lot about a HC character.

I haven't followed Missouri as closely this season as I have in the past, there is more then enough going on at Arkansas, but people who work for the guy being thrilled to take another job is a worrisome sign.
Missouri is a good place to coach. Columbia is a wonderful town, y'all aren't a group of fans who start poisoning shrubbery and shooting each other if you lose a game, and with a bit of recruiting there is the talent to win big in the SEC.
Having a small horde of coaches flee from that job is a concern. Saban has had a pretty good turnover with his coaches, but he's got the wins to back up being a jerk. Odom doesn't have that.

He’s the new Jeff Fisher in the state of Missouri.
He’s got both an inferiority complex and a superiority complex going that flips like a switch. He’s always seemed like a bit of an a-hole quite frankly. The staff turnover is insane even by football standards.
I don’t think anyone but his underlings respect him. All of them probably know more football than he does.
And yea. His excuse is always dur dur dur, we just played a better team I’m happy we competed this much dur dur dur.

For the surface level fan, Odom was supposed to be that smooth transition of coach from Pinkel to Pinkel disciple in Odom but we all know that Pinkel runs his staff differently. He keeps people around to a fault and his staff is loyal. Odom is the polar opposite.. Never seen anything like it around these parts.

He sold it as a smooth transition. The first red flag was when he pitched himself as head coach it was sans Kuligowski. And if I knew that, Kuligowski knew it.
He sold it by pitching himself with Heupel. If Heupel doesn’t come with him, does he get the job?

From afar, I get the vibe he's completely devoid of people skills. So intense about his goals and the Xs and Os nothing else matters, like treating people with professional courtesy and respect.
Sterk on the other hand seems completely opposite. I could see that marriage ending quickly.

He could get away with it if he was actually good with Xs and Os.
He aint.

Wow, funny been saying that for 2yrs. ( "undeserved over inflated ego" "no salesmanship or marketing instinct whatsoever" "dull,so very dull") so that explains why he cannot/will not attract/keep bonafide asst coaches that would help him overcome his obvious coaching deficiencies and to tie into the recruiting thread, why he went 1 for 10 when he was blessed with the best homegrown talent pool in years and why we apathetically accept getting diamonds in the rough. Then there is that tiny flaw, his gameday coaching and Xs and Os. I said it then and I get little satisfaction that others are finally seeing what I thought was blatantly obvious.

I said it before he got the job. You’re not a prophet. Get out of your sackcloth and clean off the ashes.

I don't know if BO is a shitty guy or not but I'm putting the SC & KY games directly in his lap.
The PI call in the end zone may be a Top 5 worst call I've ever seen; possible #1 in the replay era.

I live in Memphis. I was at a Fall Festival the day we played Memphis. I had on my Mizzou pullover and a few Memphis fans jabbed at me. One young man walked up to me and asked me how I like Odom. I told him I have two problems right now with him. One is where is the defense. He did not bring it to Missouri and he did not leave it at Memphis. Two he has to seal the borders a little better than he has so far. Not all Missouri players are worthy of the SEC but there are a few and he needs to get some of those players.
The young man told me he played at Memphis and his 5th year senior year was Fuente's and Odom's first year at Memphis. He was recruited by Tommy West and was there when Larry Porter took over. He told me Tommy West got railroaded and Larry Porter was a mess. Odom was a breath of fresh air and would play everyone and try all kinds of different defenses. He would talk to all the players but noticed when recruits where there he would go into a shell. This young man could not understand where Odom's defense has gone and he thought by being a head coach he would be more social to recruits but he agreed he does not have "people skills" with players he does not coach.
He wished me the best and went on his way. I was at the TAMU vs. Mississippi State game a few days ago and the TAMU fans were happy not to play us every year. The MSU fans wanted to know where the defense went. They remembered Odom at Memphis.
So is Odom a bad guy, probably does not have people skills with people who cannot speak football. He is respected in the Mid South and would probably get a DC job quickly if let go down here.

I don't really understand how people are still defending Odom.
He's started in conference 0-5, 0-4, 0-4.
What fricking coach gets the benefit of the doubt when you start the season 0-4 in conference every year?
