Stole this thread from STLTODAY.. so apologizes if it's on other sites. I don't look at TB.

I know people are pumped for Printz (I am). But I really like Hosick too. He has the top shuttle time for QBs in his class, I just like is athleticism. I think he's a JFF type of athlete and I love that he was a wrestler.

This guy has got my attention. I'm hoping some of the positive stuff I hear about him is true. For a high school kid, he really seems to have "it", should be a gamer no matter where he lines up at. But to have JFF impact he's gonna have to have "it" at the QB position.

He is MUCH stronger than JFF. Not sure how his wheels/quickness would compare.

You're right he is stronger. His thighs are the size of JFF torso... I'm hoping that fast shuttle time of his means he's pretty quick. (Would rather him be quick and agile than straight line fast).

I love the competition we're going to be seeing at the QB position for the next several years.

Anyone familiar with the Staley team? Do they not have any receivers? I just took a look at Hosick's numbers and he rarely breaks 200 yards passing in a game and typically he gains more running than throwing the ball. I know Gabbert's high school numbers didn't light the world on fire either but he's playing on Sundays (barely). Just curious what the story was on the numbers.

This isn't going to answer your question, all I know is Hosick had a great running back his junior year. In his interviews it sounded like they weren't going to be able to rely on the run this year as much and he'd be passing more, but maybe that changed. My guess is they run a pretty conservative offense that relies on running. I'm also pretty sure the knock on him is his passing..

Congrats to him.

I hope he's not in form this weekend. Fort Osage has to play them again in the semi's for the 5A title. They already played in the regular season and it was a dog fight. Very low scoring game if I rememeber right. Should be another barn burner.

I'm going to take some heat for this but I do not think he will start a game for us at QB. He will end up on defense and I'm very good with that. Just my prediction

Prediction appreciated. I wouldn't be shocked to see that happen.

Not catching any heat from me. I don't know where he'll end up but I was a bit thrown for a loop by his numbers. Yes, last year they had a great running back who now happens to be a Tiger. Looks like they have Hosick and that's about it. My guess is between conservative offense and lack of support he ends up running more than throwing the ball.

If that does happen I think that could mean we have a good QB (or 2)already entrenched. Remember TJ Moe was a QB in HS and I think was STL all metro offensive player of the year. Maybe Trent playing D means we are stacked At QB

Kind of like we are so stacked at QB right now that Moe can play WR. Just messing.

Staley's offense is run, run, then run some more. Hosicks numbers are a product of that. This is why we didn't offer his a scholarship until he visited and did passing drills for the staff.
