Braden Smith looks to be between Bama, TCU, LSU, and aTm. Never showed any interest in MU or staying in the area at all.

There were alot more visitors over the weekend. The rivals camp in St. Louis brought alot of guys to the state and many stopped by Mizzou while in the area.

Hendrix named Tennessee as his leader. Kyron Watson just named a top 3 that we didn't make. Good news is we are said to be the team to beat for Chris Murphy and CB is a position I would love for us to recruit better at.

reedus,
Doesn't look like we are too thin at LB. If you just shift last years 2 deep up replacing seniors that left, we have Darvin Ruise, Donovan Bonner, and Andrew Wilson starting with Kentrell Brothers backing up Wilson.
So we currently have 3 good LB's fighting for the 2 spots left in the 2 deep, Donavin Newsome, Michael Scherer, and Torey Boozer.
Should be 7 LBs deep to start the season, barring injury of course, I don't think any freshmen LBs see the field.

Looks like we are putting weight on our offensive lineman. So many people complained when our average weight along the line was under 300 lbs. Looks like that won't be the case this year. Maybe we are serious about running the ball more.

Barnett is already highly sought after, but I think this kid will really make some moves up the rankings. 6'7" with great athleticism and plays way above the rim. Not talked about alot, but he also has great range and has a good shot behind the arc. We have been on him for awhile, I think we have to have to be in good shape for him.

Rhodes has the highest chance, since most star ratings are based off of scholarship offers and his list is impressive.
I think Sherrils is also deserving (ESPN has him at 4 stars), but he has the same problem as Penton and Burkett. They project as Division 1 players because of athletic abiblity. They are guys who would look great at a combine, but play inferior competition in high school. Unless they go down south for some football camps they are stuck where they are.
Their best chance of getting an extra star is to open up their recruitment and start getting their numbers clocked at events. I'd rather they just stay at 3 stars and stay committed.

For everyone concerned when these early commits start to look elsewhere. Do remember that our staff encourages this. Multiple recruits in the past have said our staff told them to look around and make sure they are making the best decision for themselves. I personally agree with the staff on this one.

I agree with this. Every one of these kids on scholarship has an advisor who monitors their grades and classes on a daily basis and reports back to the team. The report probably came back that he won't pass his classes at the rate he is going and he won't be playing till that changes.

Staley's offense is run, run, then run some more. Hosicks numbers are a product of that. This is why we didn't offer his a scholarship until he visited and did passing drills for the staff.

Wes Clark is suppose to be a slasher. Stevie Clark is more of a pure shooter. They both can handle the ball good enough to run the point but I think Wes gets the job. He is known for on court leadership.

Sherrils has said he wants to play WR, and the coaching staff will let him.
re: Five things this year's Mizzou team is lacking compared to past Pinkel teams

Does this stretch of bad kicking make Pinkel and Yost rethink their no scholarships to incoming kickers rule.
Already seen a couple games turn into field position battles. I'm sure it has alot to do with our offensive struggles, but we can't continue to assume our offense can pump out 80 yd drives all the time. Maybe higher quality kicker/punters are really needed.

I have complete faith in our staff to develop D-linemen. But the O-line for next year I'm worried about.
Copeland is a good backup, but if the staff didn't think he deserved a sholarship until he was forced into playing time by injury, he probably shouldn't be on the line. Boehm will be a shining light on the line, but thats all I'm happy with. The tackles just aren't good enough to give our QB the time he will need. We also are in need of a "center" on the team, not just a guard that snaps the ball when we need him too.
Now in 2-3 years, I think we will be fine with the kids we have coming in. The level of local high school O-line talent seems to be improving as well, so we should be good in the future.

I don't see our offense lighting it up, but Vandy's offense hasn't done much when up against decent defenses this year. We should hold them in check, but will give up a couple big plays from stupid mistakes that keep them in the game.

The problem with that is our line isn't giving the receivers enough time to get down field half the time.
I agree with this, but thats not DGB's fault. And coaching can still help with this. If you know your line can't hold for more than 3 seconds, you run designed plays to help with that. Roll the QB out to gain extra time, work in some screen plays(HB Screens) to get the d-line thinking and not just pinning their ears back every play.
Of course sometimes you play top 10 teams and don't look your best against them. Thats all thats happening here. We just aren't a top 10 team yet.

I'm not a Yost hater at all, but I don't see how this doesn't fall on the coaches. Even if he isn't picking up the offense quickly and he isn't a genius you can still work him into the offense correctly.
Teach him to run a couple routes and then put him in on a few plays where he will run those routes. He doesn't have to stay in for the entire drive. Just tell him to streak down the field and jump real high, if he catches it great, ir not at least the other team will defend against it.
That being said, he will be fine, maybe in a month, maybe next year, but eventually we will all forget his struggles.
