I could see this happening if Cook does not show some significant progress over the next two games.

That’s the next home game and also coming off a bye. If you’re going to do it, then it’s the perfect time.

Throw him in there against Georgia and if it crushes his confidence then bench him forever. It worked for Macon.

But being serious, yes I think your idea makes sense and it should happen. Would give the team some new life going into 2 winnable games against Vandy and SC

I’ll be honest, I don’t see it happening until NMst. At that point, the season is over and drink will feel like it’s time to see what he has in the last 2 games for next year.

The season is over NOW. I’d start Macon against GA to get the kid some playing time and so as to not shell shock Horn his first game. Then I’d start Horn against Florida and just treat the rest of the schedule as practice/scrimmage for 2023.

Get all the players some reps just as you would in practice and see who performs. Anyone that looked good and didn’t leave via portal, gets a starting job with experience in 2023.

We’ve got at most one more win on the schedule so what does it matter. Get some utility out of the remaining 2022 games.

At most one more win?

We aren’t beating Georgia or Tennessee but every other game is winnable for sure.

We still play Vandy, SC and New Mexico whatever

If Drink will try him against Vandy, it will surprise me.

I think the earliest we see Horn is at home versus Kentucky.

I agree.

Florida, Kentucky, New Mexico State, South Carolina and Vandy are all winnable games.

The last three moreso than the first two.

There’s even a scenario where we could beat Arkansas. Though that’s less likely than the others.

We’ll, maybe I’m just venting after yesterday, but you are much more optimistic than me.

I would hope we beat NMS, and I guess Vandy at home is possible! But I honestly don’t see us winning @FL or @SCAR and KY looks pretty good this year even tho we have them at home.

I’ve pinned my hopes on 2023 since last year’s campaign and the good recruiting classes. I just want a glimmer of hope.

Incidentally, I’m far from fair weather. I will be at every MU home game this year. I do show.

4 out of those 5 is possible to get us to 6. With a fairly strong defense that we seem to finally have, anything is possible. Uga didn’t look great against kent state. We won’t beat them but I’ll still watch and hope for a decent game. Heupel has a chip on his shoulder for us, and we don’t have the same for him. Loss there, too.

I agree.

Play Horn a few series against Florida like Pinkel did with Daniel and Gabbert. Then the bye and then Vandy.

Maybe when we get down by 20 plus against Georgia give him a series or two. Let him play against his dream school.

I'm not sure I want Horn playing UNLESS he knows the entire playbook and is at least tied as QB2.

As far as Cook, fix the OL first. He was sacked 4 times yesterday, at least 2 of those within a second of him getting the ball. Has he missed some plays? Hell yes but if you put Horn in there with a bad OL, he may have scar tissue forever.

Eh, this is scheme and it's on Drink. Roll the pocket/QB, create pre snap misdirection, etc.

The over and under, non accurate throws are on Cook. Having watched Horn multiple times in GA, the kid can throw accurately on the run, it's the reason he was a 4/5* and Cook was a 2/3* ...

From a fan stand point , yes. But from a coaching standpoint it’s far from over considering it’s only been 1 conf game. And since it’s still far from over, me thinks drink will continue to ride with cook until it’s over over. I pray this isn’t the case, but I’m willing to bet it’s something similar to that.

The OL isn’t gonna improve much between now and week 12.

So we need plays that help with that. They need to be quick throws, which cook can do. We should be throwing screens to Luther 4-6 times per game. Quick slants. Etc. it’s the only thing cook can do, and it’s the only thing out OL will allow. We did a lot of these type plays on the second quarter and you guys might remember, the 2nd Q we moved the ball with ease. Best part, we completely changed that up at halftime.

Technically we still control our own destiny. Win out and we’re in Atlanta and the CFP

It's partly scheme and partly execution (yeah I know the joke here). Scheme is irrelevant if you can't block.

I don't disagree
Trying to compare Horn's time in HS to being able to do the same thing in D1 is not conversation worthy.

Speaking of Horn and Vandy,

Seems Vandy switched to their true frosh QB, he's seems to be pretty good. Better than Cook so far this year.

If the scheme is asking players to do things they cant then it is a bad scheme.

I agree....twice Cook was sacked inside the 5 and he had no time to do anything but hold on to the ball.
