Here's the thing....if we are going to do this we are at least going to have to make some modicum of sense or yeah, I'm going to call it out for being stupid.

Y'all have already established that 3* players are not good enough. Your words, not mine. So how then, does displaying the amount of 3* recruits from Missouri provide evidence that we should be recruiting higher ranked classes? We already load up on 3* and that's not producing the February results to make you guys happy. It's pure nonsense. If you want to provide evidence that we should be recruiting higher ranked classes then present the number of instate 4* since those players would actually move the needle.

This whole excersize is nothing more than mental masturbation for the BO sucks crowd, and we all know it. Yet we insist on doing it. Why?

Where is that data? You didn’t provide any information other than your word that there are 20 FBS level recruits a year.

Even if there are 20, only 5-8 in any given year are good enough to play in the SEC.

This year is an exception, there were close to 15. Yes Mizzou did a poor job in State this year. Maybe not starting 1-5 gets Mizzou a couple more. That’s far from a guarantee with the schools they went to. OSU, OU, Texas and USC are elite schools

This isn't about hating BO. It's about pointing out our deficiencies in recruiting. Deficiencies that have been around before BO even arrived.

It's not an attack. Just facts

If they've been around before BO then how in the world can they even be deficiencies?

Does it seem odd that we've only been able to hire shitty recruiters? Like we've never even lucked into a great one? How is that possible?

Is it odd that Alabama always hires great recruiters? How come they haven't screwed up and hired any shitty ones?

OR is it more likely that schools recruit to a certain relative level regardless of coach?

Which of these scenarios make more sense to you? Come on

Sigh...incremental increase? Sure. And there is nothing saying that BO himself can't do that.

Dynamic shift? That's pipe dream, fantasy land nonsense.

This is where the biggest disconnect is though. I'm not saying we can't win at a relatively high level. We can. GP proved that. It won't be done with "stars" in February though. It will be done with development and identification. That has always been our path to success and it likely always will be.

These are the major components in recruiting...

History
Proximity to talent
Facilities
Fan support/game day atmosphere

Tell me where Mizzou stands out in those areas?

We are decreasing capacity because our fans can't be bothered to fill up even 3/4 of the stadium. This is where message board cries of "recruit better!!!" are seriously tone deaf.

The good thing is, the fantasy land/pipe dream stuff is not a requirement for success. What is a requirement is actually attainable it's just going to require a bit of time. Let BO install his culture. If it's not successful in the next few seasons, then we try again. Such is life.

Why is looking for improvement in recruiting somehow asking too much?

It’s not. I don’t think many Mizzou fans expect us to recruit with A&M, Bama, Auburn, LSU, Florida or Georgia. Not really even South Carolina or Tennessee.

It would be nice to recruit in the range of where Kentucky, Mississippi State and Arkansas have been in the past 3-5 years. I don’t see any compelling reason we can’t get to that level of success.

Actually, I linked 2014,15 and 16 Missouri recruits and where they committed from 247 in this thread.

I can do more years if you want.

2013

The 24th ranked player was AJ Logan. The 23rd was Abeln. The 22nd signed with KSU.

2012
Really down year versus the others. Only 14 3*s. But still 17 kids signed with FBS schools.

WTF is up with Mizzou Fans (or so-called fans)? I'm a Mizzou fan, when I see a list, i want Mizzou on top. Whether it's recruiting, facilities, fans or cheerleader talent, I want mizzou on top. Doesn't mean it's realistic, but if i want reality, I will build another imaging system. Mizzou is passion. Why are people on this forum to constantly tell us what's not possible and to accept mediocrity. No wonder other SEC fanbases look down at us. some of you guys act like you're married to 300lb women and you scorn anyone with a skinny wife. I'm a fan damnit, that's short for fanatic. If there is a Missouri 10, I want 11. Mizzou can be better, will be better or what's the freakin point of any of this?

Striving to constantly improve should be the norm. No matter if it's the team, coaching or recruiting.. Most programs, coaches and fans know this.

It’s not just the sports programs that are at fault for the in-State recruits going out of state.

The university does a terrible job at selling itself to in state schools.

If you go to Arkansas or Oklahoma the University’s are all over the place. They go to schools they will never recruit from and make relationships with schools and students.

I went to high school in southern Missouri and recruiters from Arkansas came to my school and not Mizzou.

We can blame coaches, but some of the blame is on the University of Missouri.
