Wong. 0-3 today. Seriously, at this point, he needs to start in Triple A and find his stroke and more importantly, his confidence. He's gonna get swallowed up with the big team right now.

But in an ideal situation I wish his contract ran out after this year or next instead of '16 with the amount of great OFers we have on the cusp

I can understand that but I will ask which outfielders you can realistically pencil in for at least .290/20-25hr.90-100 rbi the next 2 yreas? I will grant Craig but he is a 1b in my opinion.
Holliday will not win the batting title but you know what you have with him. We don't with Big O/Grichuk/Piscotty. He will be gone soon and hopefully by then one of the young ones will be ready.
Full disclosure---I am a Holliday fan. I also think he is a bit overpayed.
Can't wait for opening day!

I'm not a big Holliday guy, but how can you say he's overpaid?

Even an occasional Holliday basher like myself recognizes that his contract is pretty reasonable considering what a guy like Jason Werth makes.

I'm sure some of these guys will be traded, but Taveras, Piscotty, Grichuk, Bourjos are all ready within 2 years. None of those guys I want to trade, but because Holliday will still be here they'll have to get rid of someone.

*Even if Bourjos does well, I see him moving on to another team in the near future.

Wong. 0-3 today.

I wasn't overly impressed with Wong when they brought him up last year, and I'm still not impressed. He may have a good glove, but he's not a hitter - at least not yet, in the bigs.

Hope they find some offensive production somewhere else.

I believe he was talking about Garcia not Lynn about being a head case.

Adams has hit for average and power at every level. Even though he claimed he was healthy I still remember has arm hanging at his side after a swing an miss in the post season. Hope he can stay healthy.

Wong is definitely pressing. Hopefully a few line drives will help him relax.

Hope Taveras stays healthy. He hit .300 last spring training. Looks like he has filled out some. No doubt he will have an impact once he makes the big club.

Not looking like he'll make the squad to start the season. He's already losing time to impress and in order to make the team, he's going to have to out produce Adams. I don't see that happening. He'll probably start the season in Triple A where he can play.

Wong still 0-Season.

Holliday still seeing the ball well.

Piscotty still impressive.

After giving up a home run to the lead off hitter, Miller settled in and struck out 5 and walked none.

Ellis was 2-3. He's gonna be the starter. Wong will go back down. Just my gut.

Really haven't been this excited to get a season started in a while.

I don't think Oscar was ever going to make the team anyway.

Think he was pretty much pegged for some time in AAA.

Idk, man.

I don't think he really has anything to prove at AAA, I think they need to know what he can or can't do in the majors.

Think they're going to invest the majority of time on Wong even if Ellis has a better spring.

Maybe if the rest of spring goes this bad, but it's still the first week.

He's not just 0fer. He's overmatched. You might be right and he might start up on the team, but if it were me, I'd let him get some confidence back, work out the kinks in his swing and bring him up later in the season.

I'm in total agreement that he looks like garbage at the plate, I just can't see him not making the team. I have been wrong before, though.

Everyone needs to relax, just let Wong do his thing.

Once Wong slides into that two hole, I think you will all realize it wasn't that big of a deal. In fact, once Wong gets going, you'll probably want Wong in that two hole everyday.

We all can't be southern cal level relaxed, I think I'm relaxed by missouri standards.

Said I think he'll make the team and get the majority of playing time regardless of what happens in spring training. And said it's just the first week..

Meh

Wasn't just a joke. (Yeah, of course I got the wong holes part)

You're branded as the easy goer, southern cal guy with calm wit.

Never mind, whatever, doesn't matter.

We can. You remind me of Jason Segal from How I Met Your Mother.

But I don't watch many sit coms.

And idk why I said that earlier, I was hangry, I have sense been fed and feel better.

So the Cards signed the Diaz kid. I was caught up in the initial hype, but the more I've read about him, he may be a utility type player IF he ever makes it to the big leagues. Hopefully the Cards' staff know more than most of the talking heads. Time will tell, but we're certainly thin at that spot in the minors.

Little strange that no one really wanted this guy..

I'm wondering why we still don't have a sniff on the financials for the deal..

Based on what's being said about him, in addition to no big market team making a serious move, I'd hope it's not worth more than 15 million, but it's probably not that low.
