I know Rosenthal is going to close, but he still wants to start and would probably be damn good. Depends on how Motte comes back as well. Martinez and Rosie are both electric. I know it kind of stinks about Garcia, but with our prospects we might be better off (kind of crazy idea). Should be fun though, cards have a lot of decisions to make.

Rosenthal is going to close, whether he likes it or not. He's just too damn good.

Im not convinced that Adams can play everyday. He seemed to be exposed last year when forced to play everyday.

I'm not sold on Adams either, he seems to be a fastball hitter that struggles vs lefties. But there is something intriguing about the way his hands and feet move for such a big guy, soft hands, soft agile feet, strange combo on such a big boy, maybe he can be a 25-30 hr hitter as a full time player.. and do well defensively.

If I had to take a shot in the dark I would think we will see Tavares in RF and Craig at 1B quite a bit this year.

That's what I hope. I wanted Adams traded this offseason in a package for an elite young SS, it seemed like his value was decently high on the trade market.

How are the Cards looking this year? I haven't been able to keep up with MLB like I use too.

They should compete for the Central again. At worse, they should make the play in game or whatever they are calling it. I just don't see this team falling apart to the point they don't.

I don't see how Taveras, Craig, and Adams can all get regular at bats.

Tavares has played CF and RF. He's probably better suited for RF and with Craig's injury history, I'd probably prefer to have him at 1st. As much as I like Adams, I also think he might have become a bit exposed when he became an every day starter. He may be better with spot starts and coming off the bench. The one thing we did lack in post season was any real pop off the bench too.

I think if Tavares works out in RF that Adams will be gone in a trade before the end of the season to fill the inevitable hole that will develop on the roster, or at least moved in the off season.

Im a little concerned with Peralta as well. It seems like everyone just expects him to hit .295 and play bellow average defense. Well if he hist .250-.260 we will nto be in a much better position than last year and the club will have to find something else at SS.

The Diaz buzz makes me think the Cards are not sold on Peralta either.

I was impressed with his defense given his size. Doubt he's ever a gold glover but for his size, he really does play a solid first.

Well that Diaz article makes me not so high on him. Raised my eyebrows on why the Yankees would pass and not even extend an offer as well. I agree about Peralta though. Just not sure that's the answer.

Peralta seems to be a stop gap measure to me.

SS will remain a problem for the foreseeable future.

The good news is that Mo fixed the CF problem, I think you will all be pleased with Bourjous. He will be a defensive upgrade in CF. Plus his offensive production should be markedly better than JJ's.

The Adams, Tavares, Craig question will all be sorted out soon enough. Good problems to have.

I'm excited for Bourjos, think that was a great move.

So Garcia apparently isn't anything structural according to Andrews. Inflammation. Seems like I've been down this road before but I'll hope for the best.

Wong 0-6 on the young spring training season. Little concerned about that spot.

Usually wouldn't think much of it, but my gut just doesn't like this kid.

Something about him I just don't like.

Definitely seems to have a hole in his swing. Breaking balls low and in just seem impossible for him to get to.

Interesting to see if he's a guy that ends up being traded, and we put Carp back at 2nd, move Peralta to 3rd and get a SS.

Grichuk resembles Braun, super excited about him.

Piscotty looks great too. That throw home from RF today was awesome, what a gun.

Very interesting to see how this all plays out over the 12-24 months. Holliday has been a steady presence but I really wish his contract was up in '15 instead of '16. So many good outfielders on the cusp.

MIZ_STL just happens to be at spring training right now. The regulars looked pretty good against the Mets yesterday. Holliday had a great game. I'm excited to have Bourjos in CF. He's going to cover a lot of range.

Tim Cooney had an excellent outing. He projects to be a great starter in a year or 2.

I know it's only been 3 ST games, so I'll try and refrain from jumping to conclusions, but Wong doesn't look like he's ready to go north with the big club yet.

Even in late game situations, against other teams minor league pitchers, he looks lost. It has to be mental at this point. The kids gonna have to show some guts going forward.

It's a good thing they picked up Ellis.

Call my crazy, but Cooney looks ready right now. What a polished arm.

Jealous that you're there. Enjoy it and drink a cold one for me.

Regarding Wong, I wouldn't be as concerned if he showed anything that year, or even if he wasn't brought up at all last year. But couple how he was over matched last year with his starting 0-6 this spring training and I'm a little (emphasis on little) concerned.

ST, I know you're not a huge Holliday fan, and he may not be worth such a huge contract, but he has been relatively steady over the years. Nothing great that justifies huge monies, but relatively steady.

Haven't seen it. But the kids has essentially hit .300 at every stage so far. But we're stacked up in the OF almost as much as pitching now. Taveras may not be with the squad if he can't play every day. Buorjos. Gricheck. Really thin at 2nd and SS though. Even if it's not someone who can play from day 1, I'd like to see any future deals work at improving our depth up the middle.

Yeah, I agree, I said he's been a steady presence. And his contract is reasonable considering what some other guys make.

But in an ideal situation I wish his contract ran out after this year or next instead of '16 with the amount of great OFers we have on the cusp.
