If he beats UGA, this guy is gonna end up on some coaching lists. Especially when you combine recruiting and the fact that Mizzou returns alot of offensive talent in 2024.

He could find himself being considered for UCLA, Michigan,
Miami or North Carolina in 2025.

Guys please don't misunderstand. I'm not saying he's leaving. I'm just saying he will go from being a Harry Potter joke to on everyone's coaching wish list including the big Boys in a few years.

I didn't say he would take the jobs, just on the list. The big jobs aren't available for a few years. Auburn, A&M, USC, Oregon after Lanning takes over at Bama.

Hes not leaving. We can pay as much as anyone. $EC $EC. Also win 7 to 9 games a year here and you'll have a lifetime job.

If he does good luck to him. No reason to worry about it right now. I'd be more concerned with retaining Gates than Drink

Auburn,

If Missouri has sugar daddies willing to buck up on NIL is Auburn a really better spot than Mizzou?

They have a better overall history but that doesn't matter as much anymore.

He’d be foolish to jump to an ACC school, but I do agree he’s the type to jump to a bigger program if they can outpay us. But there will probably only be 2-3 openings most years that could actually outpay + afford his buyout, so if he gets one of those that means we’re coming off an incredible season

I have always thought he was a fun guy rather than goofy. He learns and develops as a coach to. I thought we had the right man for the job when he introduced Kirby Moore in a presser last January. At least he has shown Missouri can be a gold mine of talent and a coach can build a talented winning team here.

The way he recruits here, and the transfers he gets - wow. I can remember when Nebraska and Iowa among others took the bulk of St Louis recruits.

It is the nature of college football that someone will back up a truck filled with money to lure him away. They may be doing it to our players now as well.

Mizzou fans can never be happy. Beginning of the year a majority calling for his head. Now people are worried he's going to be poached. He still makes head scratching decisions mid game but is a great CEO of the program and recruiter. Let's not get crazy though thinking he's the next guy at Michigan.

recruiting isn't about coaches anymore. it is just the overall money and benefits (including long-term career.)
the recruiting we are doing now is because we have enough money in Missouri, and only 1 major school, to afford 4 and 5 stars. It will only get better if we return to filling up the stadium and generating more revenue. Insert any coach who isn't a jerk or a loser into the formula and it won't change .

Thank you. The dude has much to prove as an in game coach.

Which ones matters more to the fans? I mean look at Kentucky. went from a basketball school to a football school and doesn't really care much for basketball because football is the better sport and more popular than basketball.

I want to win in both almost equally. Edge to football though for sure. Not sure why that matters. I want to keep both of our coaches. I think gates is the better coach though in his respective sport.

Ok, I get it, some of you have a reading comprehension problem. The OP is not about getting poached. It's about him being this Harry Potter looking guy who people joked about, who all of a sudden will be taking seriously based on Mizzous results. Much like Rhule, Campbell (before this year), the former TX coach (can't remember his name), and even Heupal. Hell Heupal went from being banished to Utah St, to being popular based on being our OC. I was pointing out how fast opinions change these days.

USC may very well be open after this year but I think Kingsbury gets the job. Unless you’re referring to the less successful USC.
