Carolina fan coming in peace. Honest.

Since this is rivalry week around the country, I was thinking about how much hatred is concentrated in states such as Florida, SC, Alabama, and Mississippi for their rivals. While I tend to believe that intrastate rivalries are more intense than others because of the close proximity that exists and the likelihood that you hate your neighbor, I believe that KU/Mizzou is different because of the very unique history that exists. Obviously, I don't need to recap your own history for you, but I just want to say that I do understand the seeds of the Kansas/Missouri conflict.

So, this brings me to my question. As you find yourself in a new conference with new teams and new places to visit, do you find yourself kind of missing the hatred that can only come with a 150-year rivalry? Would you like to see the Border War resume? I know there's no love lost for Kansas, but does the end of the season feel a little like a letdown because you don't get to beat up on the hated Jayhawks (whose very name is damned insulting)?

As a Carolina fan/grad, as much as I despise Clemson and everything those orange-clad bastards stand for, I can't imagine no longer playing them in football or baseball (seriously, that's a big deal in SC).

So, what say you Mizzou folks?

I will say a year like this certainly made me forget about it quite a bit (I will admit I have reveled in their losing still). To be honest the game had gotten a little stale and pretty damn hostile. I think maybe some day it will be played again but for now I'm very happy with our situation

Hell this weekend is gonna be a lot of fun, and I'm seriously thinking that Arkansas game in the future will fill in nicely as well.

Welcome and a very well thought out first post on our board

Yes and no. I miss playing a team that I hated with all my being. I don't miss what usually ended up being a meaningless game at the end of the season. There will probably be more A&M fans in Faurot than kU fans made it into Arrowhead.

I think a lot of Mizzou fans are excited about playing meaningful, exciting games against new opponents than a meaningless game against a rival.

No. KU hasn't been competitive in football in years and doesn't appear to be making any progress on that front.

Basketball might be a different story. KU has the better program, but Mizzou got its shots in over the last few years. But, now Mizzou gets to play KSU transplant Frank Martin at SCAR and Mike Anderson at Arkansas, and Kentucky and Florida. And at least this year, Ole Miss has made itself an interesting game.

That said, Kansas and Missouri will eventually play again. When that happens, I will wax poetically about the historical rivalry, about Todd Reesing rising from the ground with Mizzou gold turf stuck in his face mask, about the 2009 basketball game in Columbia and Zaire Taylor, and other such memories. But don't believe me when I say I want the game played into perpetuity--I will be drunk on nostalgia and not thinking clearly. I'd rather be playing aTm with a berth in the SEC Championship Game on the line the final week of the regular season than playing another cupcake.

Quite honestly, don't think of them until someone else brings them up. Would I like to see the game restored? I suppose. Do I dwell on it? Nope. Go visit Tigerboard (especially the basketball board) and I'd imagine you'd find a lot more Mizzou fans that still have kU on the mind.

Miss the games? A little, maybe, but that has more to do with familiarity than anything else, I think.

Miss the fans? Not at all. If I never see another Beaker fan, I'll be happy.

I'm a Kansas Citian, so I have to deal with "those people" on a daily basis. Never, ever, will I miss playing them, speaking their name, hearing about how great their basketball program is, one of those jokers talking about their Orange Bowl appearance (which is still a FARCE) or seeing their terrible blue/red colors around.

So in a nutshell, no I do not miss that state, school, rivalry or fans.

I will always hate those little piss-ants. That said, I don't care if we ever play them again. Personally I think it's hilarious that they look like giant vaginas that are too scared to play us. Their whole administration, school, fan base looks like a bunch of sniveling little cry babies every time they give their chicken shite answers about why they won't play us. I think Mizzou should challenge them every year so the whole country can see what a bunch of little bitches they are by being to scared to play us.

I don't particularly miss them. It is very amusing seeing that school's admin pout, cry and whine as much as they have over us leaving. Hell, the rest of the nation now sees kansas for what they are, it's hilarious. Hiding behind the leg of Daddy Texas...refusing to play us? Fits those meth smoking incest trailer trash perfectly. Each and every one of those fans are too pathetic for words, and they freaking know it.

That entire state can rot in hell.

I've been saying for years I don't get how you KC guys deal with that crap. I'd be in fights every weekend with those hillbillies. Seeing someone wearing that trash every day. Makes me want to throw up.

No.

I think that the kansas rivalry had a much stronger meaning for those on the western side of the state than it did for us on the eastern side honestly. I can honestly say that I just dont think it about it at all at this point. Dont care if they win or lose, dont care if we play them again or not.

Moving to the SEC was like a nice long hot shower for Mizzou and served as a fresh start to build a new future.

Been to KC a couple time in the last couple months for business. I don't know how one could be around Jayhawkers so often without randomly breaking out a gun and doing some ethical cleansing (and no, none of that is misspelled).

Meh, they're generally pretty tame during football season. The beaker gear isn't really too visible until basketball season starts. But yeah, basketball season does tend to suck a little bit around here. With Wiggins it's worse this year than it maybe ever has been. I truly hate those douches.

As a matter of fact, I just moved from the bad state to the good guy side. It is so refreshing.

Yep. Exactly. Or like when you've been working out in the yard all day, spent hours in the dirt, pulling weeds that are choking your flowers, fighting grubs that want to eat your plants, and killing bugs that want to sneak into your house. Then, you come inside where it's cool, grab a beer or a glass of sweet tea, shower and wash all that dirt down the drain, and relax on your couch to watch football.

Or, it could be like when you are absolutely sick of the jackass you're dating. He is bossy, controlling, needy, jealous, high maintenance, verbally abusive, stupid, inflates his accomplishments while diminishing yours, and is an general, all-around arse. So, you dump him, and take up with the hot guy you met at a party through mutual friends. He's hot, sexy, a lot of fun, and lets you be you. You feel like you can breathe again. Not that I've had that experience or anything.

A very mild yes.

They are still suffering from jilted girlfriend syndrome. And they really thought ignoring us would make us irrelevant.

But they are slowly figuring out the opposite has happened, and it's only going to get worse for them. Moving to SEC has been an overwhelming success. Even those sitting on the fence over the move have come around.

Now kU just has another crappy season, with nothing to look forward to, and no hope of ruining our season, and it's just not the same for them to play KSU.

While you guys are playing Clemson, I'd like to be playing the Beakers. Just don't see us hating Arkansas as much as we hate the mythical birds.

Ox, give it time. Those hillbillies can be delusional and annoying as hell. There is potential there.
