Again if BO is back that likely means that Mizzou is a bowl team. To get to a bowl game Mizzou will have to have the defense to play Vandy, Tennessee, Florida and Arkansas similar to the the Idaho game.

If all that happens BO won’t have to hire a DC. And if that doesn’t happen Sterk is hiring a new head coach.

What you guys are failing to account for is you are looking at 2-5 Barry Odom. You aren't looking at 6-6 Barry Odom who went 5-1 down the stretch.

Again, are we hiring Venables away from Clemson? No. Can we hire a guy who's had success at Toledo, Wyoming, Ark St? Absolutely.

We have a DC opening. We need someone who has DC experience and we need to be willing to pay for it. BO has too much on his plate and it shows.

We also need better players.

Barry should’ve known he needed a D Coordinator last summer. Not next. Failure to delegate is not a sign of strength. It’s usually a sign of weakness.

Cross hasn’t really been the DC since this time last year. Yea BO should have brought in a new LB coach and gotten rid of Cross.

There are plenty of successful coaches that act as both HC and DC/OC.

I'm just saying look at it this way:

Guy is at home considering moving his wife and kids to Columbia. 3 of the 6 wins in 2017 are shite wins and BO shite on his last hand picked DC. The secondary coach has been ineffective, and one of the LB coaches is BO's brother. Attendance is down, and if the team doesn't hit the ground running, BO is back on the hot seat. And the 2018 schedule is no joke, and includes a trip to Bama.

Do you pack up the family or do you stay where you are and wait for a more stable job offer?

Barry isn’t one of those. He needs to get help.

Maybe, but based solely on his record, BO isn't one of them..

Only if you are like Coach Kul who has been passed over and over for the DC position. You want to be a DC and will take that chance. If you are an established DC at a smaller school you will wait for a new head coach.

Excellent point, maybe that's a way to get Kul back.

Right, but if BO is back that means Mizzou is a bowl team. That changes the discussion and perception of BO as a coach.

I expect Coach Odom will be back next year.

He doesn’t come back with any less than 4 wins, and may not be back with 5 wins.

If he’s back, he and the team will have met expectations.

I don't disagree. I know why he stripped Cross of the defensive play calling, but I have no idea why he came into the season with the same situation. Paying 800k to a guy to coach your inside LBs just doesn't seem like a very good allocation of resources.

Based on where we are right now you're right but everyone has to learn how to be the CEO, just like when you and I became a supervisor for the 1st time. We had to learn to delegate instead of taking it all on. BO is learning.

Someone mentioned Coach Kul; he was past over 3 times by 2 different HCs for the DC spot; we'll probably never know they why but there's a reason he's been past over.
