DeShawn Woods
Just returned from a visit with my Nebraskan Bro-in-law. He's a NU alum and booster. Travels to all home and away games...and can probably name the player who dropped a sure winning TD in a 1927 game against Kansas.

With that in mind, he is totally perplexed about Mizzou getting Woods: "I wonder what they could have offered him?" "It just doesn't make sense"...and blah blah, shaking his head.

So...Anyone know how/why we snagged him??

(Yes, I know--Drink is just a genius...but besides that??)

re: DeShawn Woods
Nebraska is referring to their NIL program as NILbraska. Maybe Woods realized Missouri has more to offer than nill.

A program on the upswing vs a program in stagnation. Frost is catching heat while Drink is catching croots.

That's simplification, but look at Drinks presence on Social Media vs Frost. I just think he communicates both his and his programs purpose far better to this generation of kids.

I think of this as well: Drink is a non jock football nerd. You know who else fits this description? Nick Saban.

re: DeShawn Woods
Woods decided on Mizzou 10 minutes after leaving campus. His words "All the other schools were just a school, Mizzou became my school." He and Drink had a conversation, 2 men with nothing in common, but Woods came away thinking that's "my coach." Drink sold it.

Also, I believe Scott Frost has an idea of the "culture" he wants to recruit. He seems to prefer kids with rural roots who bleed Husker red.

re: DeShawn Woods
True enough, but he was not what I would consider a "Jock", he was a 2nd line player at Kent State, undrafted, and had to be cajoled into a GA coaching role by Don James. He only took it because he was waiting for his wife to graduate.
