Our players might need to be berated

Martin is a poor man's Huggins with fewer girlfriends on the road and without the alcoholism.

what bout Jacobson at UNI? dude has done wonders there
Jacobson would be a great pick, but if I recall, he got a lonnnnng contract and still has 8 or so years to go. Not sure we'd spend that much to buy out his contract.
But I'll kick in the first 20 bucks toward it.

It's long but it's not expensive.
and no that's what she said jokes
ETA it's actually more expensive than I thought. 8 years left, 400k base, 200k media fee(?), longevity fee, %50 buyout. Looks like close to 4 mil.

He'd be cheaper on the back end than some of our other options and we don't really have to pay Kim to get out of our current coach.
You could probably hire Jacobson for around $1.8M easily.

If you believe Wiki...
"In the 2014-15 season, Jacobson led the Panthers to their highest ranking in school history (#10) in the AP and (#9) in the Coaches Poll. UNI also in that season achieved the most wins in the school's history with 31. After that season Jacobson, was given a 10-year extension with an average of $900,000 per year through 2024-25."
So, doubling his salary might well work...but would we buy the UNI contract?

that would be awesome.
I kind of see him as having most of the upsides of Marshall without the huge price tag. Course I prob wrong. That's even if he has any interest.
but the contract (which is online) says if b4 May 2017 buyout is %50 of the remaining guarantee which is approx 900k * 8 * .5 = 3.6M
average SEC bball salary for coaches not named Calipari or Donovan is about 1.8M so you would think we would at least do that

If Jacobson leaves UNI for another school before May 31, 2017, the Panthers would be owed 50 percent of whatever dollar amount remains on the contract. The buyout dips to 40 percent if Jacobson departs prior to May 31, 2019, and 30 percent prior to 2024.
It just depends on what the 50% is calculated off of. Base salary? Total compensation?
Could be as low as 1.6M if it's just the base salary, but even if it's the total amount then I'd have to imagine Sterk would not have a problem getting that kind of money from large boosters who are starved for a non shite basketball program.

If we think he's the right guy, I think we will.
We made a significant offer to Marshall. It was $3M+.

I think there are better options than Jacobson.

The 900k also includes bonuses according to the article that I read. The base pay may be the only "guarantee" legally speaking. Or it could be something in the middle as well

Really depends on what Mizzou is willing to pay.
If Mizzou is willing to pay $4-5 million there are several proven coaches that could get. Guys like Marshall, Frank Martin, Cuonzo Martin
If it's $2-3 million my first call is Keatts he's a 2 time conference coach of the year. Also was the top assistant/recruiter for Louisville and their national championship team.

Cuonzo aint coming here. And he's not worth the money
Frank Martin has issues
Marshall is good but overpriced and overhyped.
I like Keatts a lot.
Also like Jacobson.
and then there is what Norm said at the end of last season about this season
“You can understand if (fans) want it to work, but you can’t just stand up and yell,” Stewart said. “That’s not going to do anything. You got some guy in mind? Who do you think can come in there and win next year? There isn’t anybody.”

Martin's players love him. He left k State because he didn't get along with the AD.

1st pick would be Scott Drew from Baylor.
2nd pick would be Greg McDermott
From Creighton.
3rd pick Keats or Jacobson.
4th pick a coach with NBA experience that can recruit and can finish out the season after KA is fired (Derek Fisher).

Both Martins are better then KA but Jacobson and Amaker have a better track record. Jacobson beating KU will always sell to the fans. McDermott hasn't done anything without his son. His time at Iowa State wasn't much. Marshal would be a solid get but he isn't leaving

Any top assistants that would be ready for the jump?
