I also like a renewed focus in TX.

Looks like we are going to have 3 coaches recruiting texas.

good timing with the longhorns sucking and the aggies with undelivered recruiting promises. that's definitely going to hurt them with instate coaches.

I like the look of the staff. A lot of great recruiters in that list.

We have 3 more spots actually. I just didn't know what the other spot would be. Might break up DBs, LBs, maybe a TE coach. Or have two OL coaches. Hard to say.

Odom has a brother that has been on the strength staff at Houston until last year. Spent this year at Washington State. I bet he comes here in some capacity.

It looks like they've got Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma covered to redundancy.

Is anyone expecting a staff addition with some real SEC recruiting acumen or are the wagons being circled to become an XII school playing in the SEC?

Matter suggested the new target for OL coach is the guy currently coaching TEs for the Atlanta Falcons.

There's another side to that though as well. Baylor, TCU are all doing amazing things currently. Several SEC schools are expanding to try an push Texas with their new conference mates.

I think Big 10 country offers an opportunity. We constantly hear about how we aren't a geographic fit, well they should absolutely be playing that up. We are SEC, we provide a unique opportunity for these kids to come play, but still stay closer to home. With the Big 10 resurgence though, how much does that SEC name currently mean to them when many B10 programs are on the rise?

Dave Matter's recent chat had a ton of opinion on Ivey and the new coaching hires. LINK

I appreciate all of the updates on the coaching hires from fellow Mizzou fans. I flew from California to a beach resort in Playa Del Carmen for the holidays so I am kind of our of the loop.

I honestly think Mizzou should say frick the south. It's over recruited to the extreme by everyone in the SEC. You're competing with their home schools who they've grown up loving. Best case scenario is you end up with kids who get passed up by those schools. I just don't see it.

Mizzou can recruit Texas, there's a ton of talent and only 1 SEC school in the area. You can sell the SEC to Texas kids, you can't sell it to a kid who has heard it from Georgia, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, etc.

I think Mizzou should focus on Texas and keeping kids at home. Our best players in the last 10 years came from Missouri and Texas.

When you say resurgence of the B10 you are really referring to 2 teams: OSU & Mich as rising strong.

OSU- 2016: 1-5 star and 2-4 stars from Florida & 2015: 9 elite kids outside B10 states
Mich- 2016: 5- Fl kids & 10 outside B10

They are pounding Ohio, but increasingly raiding Florida and SEC states for 4-5star talent. These schools aren't really hunting Texas. I think hitting Texas harder for us right now is the right plan along with being relentless and quick on promising Missouri kids.
