You could also follow the Patriots model. Double or bracket the best receiver with the 3rd and 4th best DBs in coverage. Put the best cover corner on the second best receiver. Use the number 2 cover corner on he 3rd best receiver. Force teams to beat you with secondary options.

I bet Walters gets moved up to Co-DC.

I could definitely see a Co-DC situation. Without having to hire a true OC we are going to have a problem spending this entire asst pool if Walters is back at whatever he was making last year

Top 10 pass defense is a bit of a farce.

Look at the QBs we played this year. Only team we played that threw the ball was UT and they torched us

We will have to see what role Walters winds up with. If it has anything to do with pass coverage, we've already got real problems

Why keep Walters? I has hoping he would be gone.

I agree with you. I get what the stats say but anytime opponents threw more than 10 yards down field, they had WRs running free. Our 3rd-and-long stop rate felt abysmal as we seem to always give up completions to wide open WRs.

Mizzou was ranked 22nd in 3rd down defense

Careful......IF Drink decides in a year or 2 to hire an OC we'll need that cash then.

If you are addressing my comment, you need to provide the national ranking for 3rd and long defense.

Our 3rd and short D was pretty darn good because we could stuff the middle with our DTs.

He just really needs a placeholder OC. Similar to what Odom did with Walters on the defensive side.

If people say he is as good as he is on offense, he should be calling plays.

Walters called the plays as DC. He also handled the other DC duties. It’s why not following Odom would be a good move for Walters.
