Nope

We don't have Berkstresser and Georgias defense isn't as good as Bama

If fans don't want to show over some BS in 2015 then that's pathetic.

Penn State had a full house after their embarrassing child rape week in 2011

Processing it the way you did is a symptom of the Hegelian 1:1, two sided coin problem we have intellectually.

What Penn St fans did is irrelevant to our situation.

Momentum was lost.

What I'm saying really isn't debatable.

We have a good season and continue to progress, fans will come back.

This is an off-year with the construction and very odd lack of buzz for a team with a legitimate Heisman candidate.

A lot of 1-2 game a year fans will stay home this year and come back to see the new construction next year.

Missourians just don't know how to support a college team

South Carolina won its first bowl in 1995 yet Mizzou fans are all "woe is us."

It's pathetic

I hope we beat Georgia 48-45 and benefit from Georgia turnovers

You're now having a new argument.

Missouri has not been a huge college sports state. True.

Mizzou football has gotten adequate to nice support, especially when doing well.

A noticeable chunk of that support was lost bc of the '15 issues. It's slowly rebounding.

The construction at Faurot this year is a part of the equation for 1-2 game a year fans to stay at home and come back next year.

I'd love to know what our attendance was in other years where the teams was 4-8 or started 1-5. I have a sneaking suspicion that the 2015 issues is a crutch.

2015 did impact a portion of the fan base, but not as much as looking like trash the first half of last season.

I have no doubt it affected minds of some, much like Nike affected the minds of probably the same group of people. However, how much different are the numbers in those kind of seasons.

Yes had Mizzou followed 2015 with back to back 10 win seasons, attendance never would have dropped.

Odd.

You're naive if you think the events of '15 didn't have an impact - an impact that is still being felt today.

Everything in life isn't red or blue, black or white.

The shite-arse start to the season clearly influenced things as well.

As for this year, we're coming off an historic run of winning with our biggest Heisman-hopeful in program history and we're having a hard time creating attendance-buzz.

Figure that out.

An excellent article regarding the drop in college game attendance...and the real numbers of butts-in-the-seats.

Sorry if posted before.

ETA: when I clicked on it, I got the whole story...may not be complete.

Yep, the smartphone-netflix effect.

People, guys, lay-dees, and mouth-breathers: there are a variety of reasons attendance is becoming a topic across all sports.

Mizzou is dealing with all of those same reasons everyone else is, plus the consequences from a full-system-shock that had political implications, which is a big problem in a day-n-age of drastic polarization that makes grown adults burn jerseys and tennis shoes.

Is Nike stopping people from coming this weekend?

Winning doesn’t necessarily mean we will have fans at games, but winning does help

Jim Edmonds was talking about Braves Fans from back in the mid 90’s to early 2000’s yesterday during the Cardinal game. He said even when they were winning and going to the playoffs every year the couldn’t fill the stands. He said you could walk up to the gates and get tickets for playoff games.

They have a brand new stadium and a playoff team this year and still average around 30,000(tickets sold).

Mizzou may never have the type of fan base we all wish for.

Getting students to games is what the program should focus on. They will be the ones to give money and come to games over the next few decades.

It will only happen if Mizzou gets back to catering to the locals.

Bringing fans in the gates is an investment in the future. They need to drop prices drastically for everything not in a luxury suite.

And stop with all the timeout advertising and ceremonies. Just do football.

Atlanta sucks for sports.

And the decision to put their new ballpark where they did doesn't help the cause.

Mizzou unfortunately just isn't deeply engrained in the culture of Missourians.

Because of that we'll almost certainly always ride the wave of good or bad and be susceptible to bumps and drops in attendance based on factors like a hunger strike or extra wins or losses.

Those Braves fans were probably filling up Sanford Stadium on Saturdays though

Speaking of attendance, I admit I'm not making the long trip this year...and I only get to an occasional game and/or homecoming these days.

Who on here will actually attend the game? Or are we as bad as those "others" who don't make the games?

The Braves have never had good attendance.

The nature of daily games and crazy traffic influences it big time.

Also grandpas didn't pass it to their kids to pass to their kids.

St Louis was the furthest south and west team until the 60s.

Like I don't really know what point you're making about people showing up for 6 home games a year to watch college football vs fighting traffic for 7pm starts in Atlanta 81 times a year.

I'm going but I don't make all home games. A couple/few each year.
