Right now I don't know what my stance is on Odom, but I can say that he wasn't in my top 10 from the beginning.

It's true, if BO losses his job after this season and people ask why, they're going to point back to the South Carolina game. Remember, we came off a bye week for this game, this is a perfect example of what bad coaching looks like. More so than the Purdue game last year.
This, on top of abysmal recruiting. Pinkel didn't recruit really well, but he did better than this.

It may just be my impression, but I sense zero urgency from Odom.
Saturday was an absolutely critical game to take a step forward. And it’s like he didn’t even recognize it.

What was your top 10?
Also, I’m not interested in opinions from people that don’t cover the team. This board knows substantially more than he does.

Id still like to know what happened with the play calling in the 3rd. id like to know if it really was Lock calling the plays for a bit, or what. To me, that was the biggest takeaway for the day. Abandoning the run like we did, when it was working so well.

It really felt like they were trying to pad Lock's stats...

it just made no sense. Everyone looked confused on most plays. I know Mizzou was having headset issues, and I really wonder if Lock was told to call the shots.
Posted on 10/8/18 at 1:24 pm to mizslu314
They were signaling the playcalls from the sideline.

I wonder who does that tho with dooley still up in the box.

I don’t know, but I also don’t know that there were any calls made while the headsets were malfunctioning. Dooley came down to the field after the second malfunction

Not sure I agree, Bass. I think Odom knows he's on thin ice with this team and, rather than not recognizing it, I think he just doesn't have the ability to correct the disarray that's obvious.
And despite the whistling in the dark that we'll hear about "bouncing back" and "correcting our mistakes" and "improving our focus" and blah blah blah...I fear the players' confidence (and the fans') is being destroyed which will result in a next win being a "Whew, we held on." and the next loss to be, "Yup, I knew that would happen."
A damned shame.

Miklasz hasn't been to Faurot in years. He's just another radio shitstirrer who thinks he's an expert by watching Finebaum.

Im sure there was, it took quite a while for dooley to get down. Just saying, it was around this time that we started passing it more and more, and running it less.

Yup, this is what’s so annoying about these guys. Can’t bother themselves to do regular coverage of the team, but you damn well better believe they’ll be quick to jump up when they can right something like this.

He's the same way towards the Cardinals and Blues.
Can't be bothered anymore to take his fat arse down there and do real reporting.

If we go 7-5 or worse with no wins over a P5 team with a winning record at the end of the season and Odom is coming back next year, I'm checking out.

I feel it can be a lazy take, but in this instance dude is right. I really hope Odom has what it takes and can get his team fired up to play Bama and then reel off 6 wins to finish off 10-3 after a bowl game, but you don’t see it.
As a coach he is really missing out on development at key positions which impacts our performance. Lock “locks on” way too much, his pocket presence can be horrible as the UGA game showed on both of Walkers strip fumbles, he doesn’t pick up his team when the going gets tough which is witnessed after the TD brought us within 11 at 40-29 and Paul Adams wanted to celebrate doing that Whammy thing and he kind of plays him, he hardly ever puts in us a good spot throwing the ball away, and so on.
A great coach either fixes Locks footwork or lays into that arse and shows his team something. That third quarter was horrible and everyone keeps using this excuse of the monsoon, the same monsoon which USC scored 17 points in!
Pinkel, Saban, Urban, hell even Muschamp gets in their coordinator ear and says let’s pound this ball. It’s how we are now build and who we are. There is no way Kirby Smart throws that ball more than 2 times in the third quarter, a good coach may have even brought in a Micah Wilson to give us an extra blocker in the run game. It eats clock, helps us with field position and all.

I hate the whole "everyone had to play in it" approach for this particular scenario. It changes everything. Mizzou was the better team before the rain started, and it wasn't even close. I still think mizzou wins by 20 if it doesn't rain, but doesn't matter.
USC also had rain cover on the sideline, mizzou did not. USC had dry gloves every time they went out, mizzou had to ditch the gloves and go bare hand because they were far too soaked.
Even after that, why we ditched the running game is very confusing. I want to hear this explanation. that too me was the difference.
USCe was probably worst than I thought they were going to be. It sucks that the game plan we had was wasted on rain that wasnt expected.

To say we are better states we not only have better talent but we can out execute our competition. We showed on both sides of the ball vulnerabilities which can be exploited by a decent coach.
The game within the game normally has twists and turns and that includes rain. Momentum shifts occur during games and it’s a coaches job with team leadership to get them through the turbulence. This the SEC where every team out recruits us and I expect games to have peaks and valleys. You think any great/good coach loses a 9 pt lead with a dominating run game Saturday?
Also,It is 2018 and Nike basically gives away gear and you are trying to convince me we lost because of wet gloves. Really?

I just feel like we have a very selective memory here. Remember when Dave Yost was the OC? I can still hear the screams of “run the ball!!!” Echoing through time...
We get ourselves into this evaluation method of if it works, it’s good. IF it doesn’t, it’s bad. That’s not always true.
Ultimately it’s wins and losses of course. You win people quickly forget what play calls were shite, who dropped what pass, what INT were thrown.
Facts are, there is so much sloppy play and missed execution from that game that there is plenty of blame to go around. The HC is the one making millions though, so there you have it
