Kentucky is a top 25 team. The only other top 25 team left is Florida. It’s almost like your standard isn’t really a just a top 25 team, but a top 25 team that’s also a blue blood.

Most SEC schools are hiring coordinators from P6 teams as their new head coaches.

I guess if you thought this was a 10 win team going into the season I could see the frustration you have with the team. I thought it was a 7 or 8 win team. Still do. That’s also the average that Pinkel had over his tenure at Mizzou.

Reading words into what I said. I didn't say they were a 10 win team going into the season. You were giving a reason on why they're not a 10 win type team and I found the reason given as not supportive of that argument. That's all.

To put it a different way, I didn't think they were a 10 win team either. But a portion of that had to do with the coaching. In comparison to DAMN NEAR half of the defense being able to start for the top half of SEC Defenses, I'm pretty certain that BO would not be named HC at 100% of SEC teams and probably not at the top 75% of all P5 teams. THAT might be playing a bigger role.

Nooo.

The posts here are Ky would be a signature win. And they are top 25, although if we beat them they won't be. Read it anyway you want. The attitude around here is if we beat a decent Ky team for our only win over a P5 opponent with a winning record in 3 years that's good enough (and signature). If that's where you are at then that's where you are at. So let it be written, so let it be done.

If we beat Kentucky.

For the first time in BO's tenure

BTW we should beat Kentucky. How much you wanna bet Oder and staff fuk it up?

Jordan Elliott is getting snaps on every team you listed. He can play two gaps in the middle or play 3 Tech and command a double team on every play.

Brandon Lee's job is to spill plays back inside and take on lead blockers. That doesn't fill up a stat sheet but he would get reps at aTm and Kentucky. I think he has value blitzing as well but he is the best coverage option on the second level and doesn't get the call.

I think Elliot will eventually be really good. But he’s not consistent enough yet. There’s actually a number of players from the 2017 and 2018 classes on the defensive side that I think are athletic enough to eventually be really good players. They just are inconsistent or not ready physically/mentally to be impact players this season.

I think 9 wins should have been expected with the talent on this team.

NFL QB, 3 capable RBs, experienced OLine and DLine, big time WR and TE, very experienced LB corps.

I just don't see how you have all of that and come away with 7 wins and feel good.

Because DE and DB were huge question marks. Had Prewett not gotten in trouble the backend would be a lot better. He was at least in the right spot the second half of last season.

Gillespie might be the best athlete on the team, but has 1-2 plays a game where he doesn’t know who to cover. He would start and have a shot at all conference honors if he was like Matt White or Braylon Webb. Those 2 knew where they were supposed to be at all times.

DE has an all freshman selection last year. It has 3 and 4 star recruits. Why haven't they developed from last year to this year?

Acy is a junior and is questionably better. Hilton being on the field is a travesty.

You don't have to be talented to be disciplined and know your coverage responsibilities. That doesn't seem to happen much.

I think Walters needs to be considered expendable at the end of the year. Barry Odom has made a lot of terrible coaching decisions when it comes to defensive assistants.

I always feel way better about our mediocrity after I see your posts about how you expected us to be exactly this mediocre.

I expect Mizzou to eventually be better. I just didn’t expect that to happen overnight. Similar to what appears to be happening at Kentucky, to rebuild the defense from the bad recruiting classes after joining the SEC will take some time.
Or once Pinkel got the program rolling if a sophomore was starting that usually meant that a player had NFL potential. Right now at a few positions sophomores are starting because there are no seniors.

Basically what you are saying here is that there is no finish to the season that would make you happy.

Even if they won 6 straight after Bama and finished 9-3 because they wouldn’t have a “signature” win. You can’t do shite about the past or who is on the schedule.

There is still 7 games left. 6 of the 7 are winnable. This is a pretty talented group. Let’s see how the team does huh?

I think a lot of it depends on the games Odom loses not the ones he wins.

If he lays an egg against Memphis, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, or Arkansas he should be canned.

Even on bad days Mizzou should beat all 4 of those teams.

7-5 and he will keep his job.

Problem I see is next year has a lot of holes to fill and very few players to fill them. You play WVU instead of Purdue. You play @Georgia, @Kentucky, @Arkansas.

I have a hard time seeing 6 wins with no QB next year.

Tells me that the coaches will add a grad transfer QB and Mizzou will have a QB.

MSU got one from a transfer from Ohio State University. Missouri can do it too.
