I believe this team will come back with a solid win against a solid team. Hopefully they prove me right. Tigers-34 Vols-16

Well, apparently the greater than or equal to symbol doesn't work in the rant.

Mizzou wins by a few.

Mizzou 24
Tennessee 21

I'm looking for Mizzou to rebound.

Definitely glad it's a home game...

We jump out to an early 2-0 lead. Cobb scores 17 by himself. Literally. No other players on the field. Then Mauk gets injured and Tommy Saunders comes in as QB, runs a wishbone offense and we score 53 unanswered. Later the win is vacated not because Tommy played, but we are determined to be Yankees and we say pop.

Franklin surprises everyone and takes the field as a starter to the roar of the surprised score. The team, determined to show last week's loss was a fluke and that they do belong in the SEC, takes it to UT and wins 44-13. Huge days for Franklin, Murphy, Washington and Sam.

Then I wake up and Mizzou wins 24-20.

If franklin plays, it is a beatdown. If it is mauk, i'll go with 17pt win.

AstroDobbs will give your defense all kinds of trouble, and our agressive defense will create one or more turnovers.

The Volunteers win it in the fourth quarter 28-24

Our secondary is a concern, as it always is. How do you think the young QB will handle the pressure brought by our DE's? I understand UT has a solid line, but I really think, at times, the DE's will be able to get pressure on him.

Unless you guys are going to find a way to bring Connor Shaw in off the bench, I don't see you making a 4th quarter comeback.

Our line should be able to give Dobbs enough time to find an open receiver, every now and then you could get a sack, but I do not believe it would be enough to win the game.

The key of the game will be if our defense can slow down your big play offense.

Agreed. The UT line is good, but it isn't any better than the USC line, and we were able to get some pressure on the USC QBs. The defense seemed to get tired when the offense couldn't make a play in the 4th to give the defense some rest.

I think UT might be overvaluing their OL for this game. You haven't seen a DL this fast yet this year. I know UT's OL is big and strong but I don't know they have the foot speed to contain Ray and Sam.

Unless UT goes completely in a shell or somehow avoids 2nd and 3rd and long situations completely, I think Mizzou ends up with at least 3 sacks on the day.

Tired and they softened up way too much by design. Hate when they do that. Too hard to turn it back on once it's been turned off.

like I said, your D line is good, but there are ways to neutralize its agressivness (screen passes).

I agree not. At some point the speed off the ends will get pressure. With the young QB, not just the sacks, but the hurries, could be a big point in the game.

If Dobbs stays poised, Tennessee will be a tough nut to crack.

The interesting part is if UT lines up in the I and tries to run on Mizzou, UT will get embarrassed. Opening it up with a freshman QB who hasn't played a game of SEC football yet has its own set of perils.

I really hope UT tries to live off the power running game.

I believe the gameplan is to open things for the running game by passing a few times first. Remember this is not your regular freshman QB, this is a highly intelligent individual with a photographic memory that can hurt you with his running and his passing.

But we will know for sure soon enough!

I hope I don't have to eat crow
