I get kids hitting portal for playing time or personal reasons. Not a fan of free agents looking for big payday. I would rather over pay promising in state recruits vs 4M for a Cam Coleman.

If the Simmons thing comes to fruition, one thing you can't say regarding Drink is that he didn't have a plan at QB. This is a pretty calculated move that was put into play weeks ago.

Possibly. Drink is infatuated with mobile QBs. Not ones that can move in pocket and extend the play but those that are extension of run game. With the predictable play calling and run game, not sure Simmons changes anything from what we saw this year.

I'm referring more towards a "we're not letting schools dictate who we can take at QB" type of plan. Last year's plan wasn't quite as bold.
As for the Xs and Os? We'll see.

Simmons has good arm strength but his delivery isnt ideal. Way too much elbow drift instead of "up and out".

Drink gets on my nerves with his playcalling but I still gotta be fair. He went hard after Miller Moss last year and he isnt a runner in any way. He took a shot at Mendoza but Mendoza's brother is at Indiana, he's not a runner. He took Pribula because it got late in the process because he waited too long on Moss. The only runner he went after was Daniels. So I don't see an infatuation for running QBs. Just a very limited imagination in playcalling.

Time for Andrew Sprague from Rockhurst to follow his OC to Mizzou.

This could be key with Simmons being left handed. Sprague would be the blind side protection.

Good point.
Do not contact Austin or Andrew, because Andrew will not let anyone contact Austin.

He’s a very good athlete, stronger arm and more dynamic than pribula. With that said, I see a continuation of the same offensive struggles. I guess I’m hoping for any signs that offense evolves. Hate seeing how easy things look for other teams with comparable or lesser talent.

Simmons was designated the starter for Lane Kiffin. In Mizzou terms, that's like getting a Luper RB (which Ole Miss did). That's good enough for me.

That wind up equals late delivery. Late equals INTs. He threw 5 in two games and didnt get his job back when he was healthy. I dont think it is coincidental.

Fair points. He’s not afraid to go after big names but designed qb runs appear to be a staple of his offense regardless. Horns greatest strength wasn’t running but … drink would run Tom Brady if he had the chance. Unless he has a proven talent, it appears he prefers running QBs to overcome some of his shortcomings.
