Just picked up UConn QB Nick Evers. This one confuses me because 3 teams have worked with him to no avail. Wasn't even a starter for UConn. Ranked just behind Horn as a 4 star, chose OU, then Wisconsin then UConn. Lindsey must see something in him.

The sacks were great but he didn't make enough plays behind the line and tackles overall vs the run to get the money he is reportedly asking for. Double digit TFLs is the expectation at his position. He came close but shedding blocks vs the run wasn't something he excelled at. Smith had 4 fewer TFLs and 7 fewer tackles on far fewer reps.

This. My Dad and I had an argument soon after the Bama game about the D-ends play.
I argued Young was the best player on the line by far, because he was causing havoc for the offense on a more plays even if he did not have Wilson's sack numbers. I felt like Young and McClellan were creating more hurries, some of which Wilson cleaned up.

My dad disagreed, but he was still sore at Young for hanging over Simpson long enough to give the refs an excuse to throw the weak taunting flag.

Bama, Ohio State, Miami and Texas Tech seem to be in the lead for Wilson. He will get $1 to $1.5 million which we could probably match if he showed that he wanted to stay.

I was just listening to 101 ESPN, St. Louis and they said Wilson's ask is $3 million.

If true, no surprise he's still unsigned. Apparently if he doesn't get his price he'll go pro.

This feels like a good signing after watching our kicking this season.

Switching subjects - Gabe says we may still have more dry powder than a lot of teams we are competing against, given we have not gone big on many signings.
Are there any big d-line targets still out there? Cornerbacks? O-lineman?

Getting Tionne Gray back would be nice and should be cheap. He maintained his RS at Oregon. Also there is a Michigan State DE who's name I can't remember.

If we have the cash then Drink needs to be working those "back channels" if he's not already.

Agreed. Not many guaranteed contributors in this class thus far, forget sure "starters".

With that player won seven or eight figures how long is it gonna be before team starts spending more than they make?

100%. He had one of the best DE in the league opposite him.

You don't pay Robin like he's Batman until he proves he's Batman.

Wilson also had the luxury of taking countless snaps next to McClellan, who commanded a double team on most plays. He simply didn't make enough plays vs the run IMO. You have to be able to stack and shed a defender.

Gray is scheduled to visit ND Thursday, but ND just got Brewu from Pitt and a starter just pulled himself out of the portal and agreed to return, so ND may not be as attractive to him. Dont know if Mizzou is pushing for a visit.

Coming at it from a donation standpoint. Gray seems to be the only name that donors are excited about, that could change tomorrow. But Gray is a former Mizzou commit and true son. Plus Mizzou hasn't had any real exciting portal targets so donors are anxious to jump onboard and grab someone. It's so uneventful that I truly believe if Wilson sent signals that he wanted to return, donors would be excited just to be involved. But 3 million ain't happening.

Seems like this year is a few guys who are overpriced and a bunch who are very reasonable.
