Rountree, Sparks, Whiteside. There were some others from last years class as well.

With the way we recruit development is always going to be key. We can start getting a better idea next year.

Very fortunate in 13 and 14. East was very weak too. Besides, if coaching up 3* each year was a successful method, we should be competing for championships every year.
We were lucky in 13 and 14, and I wouldn’t look for us to compete for the East crown again for a long long time! We should be a team that stays just above Vandy and Kentucky in the east, and going 6-5 maybe 7-4 and make a bowl game. Low standards, but that should be our goal each year. Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and USCe have surpassed us big time. We aren’t a blueblood, and stud players don’t consider us a place to be. Until that changes, we are what we are!

1. We weren't lucky, those were good, legit teams. 2. Tenn and Scar have not surpassed us big time. Tenn is a dumpster fire until proven otherwise, and Scar is slightly above us at this time.

It’s not really about coaching up 3 star talents.
It’s finding guys like Shane Ray and Albert O that are under rated as 3 stars.
Mizzou has to win by out evaluating the top SEC schools.

Lucky? 14 we were fortunate I'd agree, but we were still a good team. 13 we had one of the most talented tmrosters in the country. Top 10 very easily.

And of course recruiting a bunch of 3* is not the way to be in the championship discussion every year. That's why the same teams win every year.

That doesn't mean you can't break through occasionally though. This is our path. Identification and development. Always has been. Always will be. We can marginally improve recruiting, but we'll still be built on who we can find and what we can do with them.

We were blown out of both championship games. We weren’t and aren’t ready for prime time.
We’ll have a top 25 team every 10 years or so, but 6-5 is more realistic for us. Getting lucky with diamonds in the rough (low 3’s and high 2’s coached up) is not a recipe for top tier teams or winning football in our conference each year. Especially when Bama can bring in a freshman 5* QB off the bench at halftime to lead them to the Natty. Our 2* guys would piss down their leg in that situation. Georgia isn’t going to collapse...Florida and Tennessee have new coaches that will have them competing at the highest of levels in no time at all. So, yes, we might be better than Vandy, and hope to catch Kentucky, and that’s about as good as it’s going to get for Mizzou FB

I know your old, but college teams have been playing a minimum of 12 games per year for about 15 years. So 6-5 won’t be a realistic season.

Mizzou didn't get blown out in 13. That game was back and forth till the 4th

Also Mizzou lost to teams that were both in the Title game. I dont see how that is a negative.

Isn’t that where we want to be? Unfortunately, recruiting the guys we recruit won’t get us there. The stars have to align, and hell has to freeze over for us to get there.

A college coach at the D-1 level told me after the protests, it will take 10 years for Mizzou to get back to being a legitimate team! I didn’t believe him, but I’m starting to think he might be right!

Did he tell you that while you were on your trip to Honduras? Or was it the college coach that was recruiting the kid that turned down P5 football for medical school?

I think maybe you need to take a step back.

You are losing it

I keep reading on these boards the 2013 game with Auburn was a “blowout” when in reality it was a 45-42 game in the 4th quarter that was nip and tuck until 5 minutes left. I’ll give credit to Auburn for winning, but it’s not like Auburn dominated from start to finish.

The stats made it look pretty bad. Worse than the score. I think Auburn ran for 550 yds or so.

The way Franklin kept moving the offense I legitimately thought the team would win the game if Steckel could ever figure out a defensive adjustment. But it never happened.

The guru defensive line coach couldn't figure out that having the DEs stay home instead of flying upfield would seal the crease and spill the play to the WLB or safety. Instead, Kuligowski had his guys "do what we do" and left Tre Mason untouched in a one on one with Matt White. I still laugh when people think it was a mistake to not make him DC.

Richt didn’t name him DC either. So he must have saw the same thing Pinkel did.
